Yeezy Season 3 has officially begun

After changing the title of his new album quite a few times (“Swish!”, “Waves”), media icon Kanye West finally comes with the brash “The Life of Pablo”. To accompany this musical experience, Mr. West also unveiled his new avant-garde streetwear live from Madison Square Garden, streamed via Tidal.

From the fully packed stadium as if it was a prize fight, surrounded by hip hop brethren (Kid Cudi, Pusha T, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and more), entire family in the stands, Kanye plays his album in full length with a few bonuses from Young Thug and one of his latest signees Vic Mensa. It was lit! The sound was a perfect blend of unheard soul samples, trap, minimalist, with a splash of gospel. The brilliant Yeezus pours out raps and melodies about trials and tribulations since his last release, the people he’s “made famous”, and shear triumph.

While the maestro plays, the centre piece of the show was his clothing line. With hoards of models completely covering the floor draped in earth tones, while some decorated two large stages wearing splashes of bright colours (lime, cherry, orange), it appeared that everyone was trying to be as still as possible. If you looked closer, you can spot style wiz-kid Ian Connor, trendsetting atlien Young Thug lamping around, and even the legendary supermodel and long time friend of Kanye Naomi Campbell stood fearlessly on the stage.

After playing “The Life of Pablo” in its entirety and a few select songs from collaborators, Kanye briefly goes on one of his classic rants about how his work “just isn’t regular” and how he wouldn’t be here without Michael Jordan but “the Yeezy Boost is the number shoe”, and he did just sell out the garden “playing one on nobody”. Clearly the same ol Ye. Then, just when you thought he was finished, he plays a clip of his new video game that appears to also be underway called “0nly One: The Game” which he proudly describes it as his mother flying through to the pearly gates into heaven. Genius, yet bizarre and heart warming all at once.
