Fuse joins the ‘Digital Revolution’ with new podcast network

FUSE MEDIA BUILDS ON DIGITAL STRATEGY WITH MOBILE APP, PODCAST NETWORK AND EXPANDED DIGITAL CONTENT

Second Season of FLUFFY BREAKS EVEN Starring Gabriel Iglesias to Launch March 31 on Fuse App One Week Prior to Network Premiere

Fuse Media is launching a series of new digital initiatives including a mobile app, podcast network and expanded digital content. These offerings build on last year’s successful relaunch of Fuse as a national television network for the fast-growing, Latino and multicultural 18-34 audience, and the expansion of Fuse.tv, a digital pop culture destination that saw its February 2016 unique visitors grow +129 percent year-over-year.*

As part of this digital expansion, the second season of hit original series FLUFFY BREAKS EVEN will launch on March 31 exclusively on the Fuse app, available for both iOS and Android devices, one week prior to the Fuse network premiere on April 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. This marks the latest undertaking in parent company Fuse Media’s overall commitment to engage multicultural and Latino audiences on the platforms they most heavily frequent.

Starring and produced by comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, FLUFFY BREAKS EVEN is one of the pillar original series that drove Fuse to grow as one of the most multicultural ad-supported cable networks in 2016, with more than half of its viewers representing a culturally diverse audience.** In addition, the September 2015 network relaunch drove substantial year-over-year growth for Fuse in key demos, including Adults 18-34 (+140 percent) and Adults 18-49 (+104 percent).***

“The expansion of Fuse Media’s digital strategy underscores our commitment to reach Latino and multicultural millennials in new, innovative ways,” said Fuse Media CEO Michael Schwimmer. “With Gabriel Iglesias’ broad appeal and tremendous social media following, Fluffy Breaks Even is the perfect title to showcase on the Fuse mobile app.”

Podcasts

The new podcast network features in-depth conversations with Fuse experts, hot artists and tastemakers from the hip-hop, pop and K-pop worlds. Each week, three half-hour podcasts launch on Fuse.tv and are also made available on iTunes and YouTube. They include K-Stop, focusing on all things K-pop and hosted by Jeff Benjamin and Tina Xu; Back of the Class, delving into hip-hop culture with Esteban Serrano, Juan Cadavid and Zach Dionne; and Pop Chat, with Fuse Digital deputy editor and resident music expert Jason Lipshutz diving into the music and artists that are top-of-mind for the audience that week. Future podcasts branching out beyond music are planned.

Mobile App

The Fuse mobile app is available now on the iTunes and Google Play app stores. The app will feature exclusive access to select Fuse originals prior to their linear premiere, as well as original content – including specials, event coverage and more – produced specifically for the app. FLUFFY BREAKS EVEN marks the first exclusive pre-linear Fuse app premiere. Additionally, the first original content developed and produced for the Fuse mobile app will be LIVE ALIVE, a series of concert specials with the initial concert featuring Grammy-nominated Australian soul band Hiatus Kaiyote. Shot from the audience’s perspective, in the crowd and up close, LIVE ALIVE is the experience of seeing a new artist on the rise for the first time under the absolute best of circumstances through intimate performance. LIVE ALIVE will premiere on the Fuse app in spring 2016 with a linear airdate to follow for each episode. Each concert special will feature highlights from a live club performance of a new emerging band, as well as intimate conversations between band members and some of the industry’s most highly respected and talented artists. The Fuse mobile app will also provide consumers the ability to set TV schedule reminders, share what they’re watching with their social networks, and watch content on the big screen via their Apple TV device.

Expanded Content

In addition, both Fuse.tv and FM.tv are expanding throughout 2016 to offer an even more robust portfolio, extending the viewer experience even further beyond the linear networks’ content. Both sites provide world-class editorial coverage of real-time pop culture and music news; informed opinion pieces; original digital video series; exclusive interviews; seasonal previews and guides; as well as on-the-ground coverage of the hottest festivals and events.  Social media outreach for Fuse digital content will continue to play a central role in engaging and connecting with multicultural millennials.
