Live Sessions with ‘Hit The Quan’s’ producer Buck Nasty!

Buck Nasty, is not quite yet a household name producer although if his first major hit as a producer Hit The Quan could just change that as he now has the ears of the industry’s serious ears. The Hype Magazine Executive Editor, Toya Tharp aka Toya T caught up with the newly famed producer to find out how he see’s himself, keys to success, what he considers before working with an artist and much more.

Besides being the producer for iHeart Memphis and his smash hit Hit the Quan, from the outside looking in, who is Buck Nasty?

Who is Buck Nasty? Haha, well thats the thing, I don’t know who or what I am. But, I do know I’m just a work machine, a music lover. Producer of sounds.

What made you pick the music business as a career?

That one is another I don’t know too. I was always into music, from when I was younger, linking tape recorders & radios together to make my own make believe radio station to the point where I was just chopping & screwing with just tape players. Fast forward, I was bored one day & actually wanted to get into it full time…..

What do you feel are the greatest keys to your current success?

Most definitely, consistency, dedication & hard work. Finding that edge what made you hot & finding ways to twist whatever your style is…

What’s in your playlist right now?

I’m currently listening to Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Florida-Georgia Line, Taylor Swift, Kanye, Kendrick, J. Cole, Miley Cyrus, Justin Derulo, Drake, Rihanna, I listen to any & everything. Of course the local artist in my are such as Money Bagg Yo, Dolph, Gotti, Big Mota, The Real Glam, Daw$on, Tovie Smalls, G.R.I.P. Stars, D. Magnum (from Greenwood, MS.) The list can go on.

What do you consider before working with an artist?

The talent that they possess, their work ethic, dedication and consistency (in my eyes) that I see. They make good music and they just shine, as people say, “thats their style & I love it!”
