Remy Martin ‘Producer Series’ 2 event recap!

This past Saturday, at Tao Downtown in New York City, Remy Martin Presents “The Producer Series” hosted its second event of the summer! The series, which is an opportunity for music producers to showcase their material to music industry executives and super producers, was created last year. Producers submit their tracks online and the hottest beats are selected, granting the selected producers a shot to compete in the competition.

Hosted by Remy Martin Brand Ambassador and Power 105.1’s own Charlemagne Tha God, each event is headlined by a legendary super-producer. This week’s iconic guest was the incomparable Wyclef Jean. The normally structured event didn’t necessarily go as planned as Wyclef thankfully did more than required. At the start of the event, Charlemagne commented that Clef was in the building three hours early playing music nonstop and apparently he was still in a giving mood, because once the show started the tunes were endless! Besides giving us a gem dropping, priceless interview, followed by “Tech Talk” which is a live breakdown of his most famous tracks, he put on a mini concert for the crowd! The energy and the warmth in the room as he played live instruments, sang and rapped his hit-records was nothing short of historical.

Following the concert, the competing producers JL Beats, Rizz Beats and Point 1 battled it out for the second semi-finalist position. For the first time in “Producer Series” history, two contestants (Point 1 and JL Beats) ended up in a double tiebreaker! However, Point 1 proved to be the crowd favorite and fortunately for him Wyclef even offered to buy his winning track! It was a memorable night indeed. Boston is the next stop for the Producer Series, as they will judge the next round of competitors in search for the next qualifier.
