The #1 Indie Rapper First Struck Gold In 2013 With “Caribou Lou

Tech N9ne’s “Hood Go Crazy” and “Fragile” singles have been certified gold by the RIAA. The independent rap icon credits his fans for helping him achieve this major milestone.

“This is a beautiful testament to the loyalty of my fans,” Tech N9ne says. “Thanks to all the Technicians that made this possible and have made Strange Music the #1 independent record company in the universe, without them none of this is possible.”

“Hood Go Crazy” is the main single from Tech N9ne’s acclaimed 2015 album, Special Effects. The hit song features 2 Chainz and B.o.B and demonstrates Tech N9ne’s ability to make commercially viable music while appealing to his core fanbase and getting national radio play.

Included on Tech N9ne’s 2013 album, Something Else, “Fragile” also features platinum Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar, Strange Music labelmates ¡Mayday! and singer Kendall Morgan. The song peaked at #11 on the Rhythmic chart and led to Tech N9ne performing the song on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Tech N9ne first struck gold in 2013 with his popular party anthem, “Caribou Lou.” Culled from his 2006 album, Everready (The Religion), “Caribou Lou” was also Strange Music’s first gold certification, a distinction it earned in July 2013. Longtime business partner and Strange Music’s CEO, Travis O’Guin, along with TV star, Nick Cannon, surprised Tech N9ne on stage with his gold plaque in 2013 during a homecoming concert in Kansas City.

“They just surprised me [on stage] and stopped my music right in the midst of me doing it,” Tech N9ne said backstage at The Midland Theatre during an interview with HipHopDX. “I had no idea. I saw those plaques and my heart went up in my throat ’cause I’ve been waiting on them. But this is validation that we did it. When you hear about it, it’s like, ‘Yeah. OK. Maybe they’re just embellishing a little bit.’ They weren’t.”

Constantly active, Tech N9ne is in the midst of “Tech N9ne’s Warrior Built Emcee Contest.” The grand prize winner will be flown to Kansas City to record a verse on Tech N9ne’s “P.T.S.D.” with him and be featured in a music video for the cut. The contest details are available here.

Tech N9ne is also about to embark upon Tech N9ne’s The Calm Before The Storm 2016 Tour. Booked for 47 cities, the tour is set to launch September 8 at the Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines, Iowa and conclude October 31 at Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri.
