Hit-making Songwriter Julia Michaels Inks Deal With Republic Records For Solo Debut

Having penned a series of multiplatinum chart-topping hits, renowned songwriter JULIA MICHAELS formally steps into the spotlight as an artist, signing a deal with Republic Records. She’s in the process of recording her debut EP for the label due out in early 2017.

About the signing, Republic Group President Charlie Walk said, “From the first day I met Julia it was clear that she was not just a writer, but a very unique artist. Her trademark vocals, writing prowess, and musical vision puts her in a category all her own. We’re thrilled to be a part of her upcoming journey and to share her art with the world.”

Over the past two years, JULIA has solidified herself as one of pop music’s most in-demand songwriters, co-writing a string of Billboard Hot 100 hits alongside Justin Tranter—including inescapable smashes like Justin Bieber’s “Sorry,” Selena Gomez’s “Good for You” [feat. A$AP Rocky], Hailee Steinfeld’s “Love Myself,” and more. To date, the songs Julia has co-written exceed over 8 BILLION streams, with the consumption equivalent of over 50 MILLION songs sold worldwide.

Most recently, she stunned audiences worldwide performing “Carry Me” with Kygo at the 2016 Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Rio.

JULIA’s been on the road towards this moment for as long as she can remember. After relocating from Iowa, she spent her childhood in Santa Clarita, an L.A. suburb known for Magic Mountain, where she opted to be home-schooled in order to spend every free minute writing poetry and lyrics. JULIA then met Tranter in 2013 and began the songwriting partnership. By 2016, she inked a deal with Republic Records and began working on her forthcoming debut EP.
