Revolt TV highlights upcoming Global Spin Awards Nominees

Revolt and the Global Spin Awards, which honors DJs from across the globe for their contributions to the music and entertainment industries, announced this year’s annual event will honor GRAMMY® Award-winning DJ, producer, rapper, and writer, DJ Spinderella (@spindeezy) with the Breaking Barriers Award and legendaryDJ and producer, DJ Clark Kent (@DJClarkKent) with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Taking place during the2017 All-Star Weekend in New Orleans on Thursday, February 16, 2017, GSA will spotlight Spinderella and Clark Kent for their decades of contributions to the evolution of the turntables, music and culture.

As one of the original pioneers of hip-hop music with the all-female rap group Salt-n-Pepa, Spinderella has been a trailblazer for women in the industry for over two decades. Selling over 15 million albums and singles worldwide while playing a vital role in Salt-n-Pepa’s success, Spinderella has achieved international fame. Beyond her success as a DJ, she continues to pursue other endeavors including acting, producing, philanthropy and the founding of The Spinderella DJ Academy. Spinderella has broken barriers, paving the way for DJs around the globe and is the first female DJ to be named a GSA honoree.

The iconic music mogul, Clark Kent has dominated the industry for over 30 years working on some of the largest projects of our time and with some of the biggest names in music including Jay Z, The Notorious B.I.G., Mariah Carey, Rakim, Lil Kim, Rick Ross, Das EFX, Junior M.A.F.I.A., and more. Outside of being a master of the turntables, Clark has an array of titles under his belt—from A&R at Roc-A-Fella Records, Motown, and Atlantic Records, CEO of Supermen Entertainment and DJ battle competitions, to multiplatinum producer, sneaker designer, and brand consultant—he has conquered almost every facet of hip-hop culture.

Spinderella and Clark Kent join previous GSA honorees including Afrika Bambaatta, Mark Ronson, Funk Master Flex, DJ Khaled, DJ Premier, Kid Capri, Marly Marl, Grand Master Flash and Red Alert.

REVOLT.tv will exclusively air online the 2017 Global Spin Awards Nominations Special that was filmed during the 2016 REVOLT Music Conference and hosted by Jeezy, REVOLT hosts DJ Damage and DJ Hannah Rad, the event featured performances by Zoey Dollaz, and East Harlem rapper Dave East.
