Upstream Presents 2017 Keynotes Summit Featuring Macklemore, Quincy Jones, and Portia Sabin

At the Upstream Summit, emerging artists, industry experts and creative collaborators from the Northwest and beyond will gather at WaMu Theater to dive into how to bring home the bacon in the changing music economy, both in support of our regional music industry and the industry at large.  Upstream is thrilled to announce that Macklemore, Quincy Jones, and Portia Sabin will be participating as keynotes, and will set the timbre for the two-day Summit with personal, compelling and interactive discussions.  Each keynote brings to the stage unique approaches and experiences in the music industry and though they’re different in genre, gender and generation—what they have in common are a passion for making music, supporting emerging artists and challenging the status quo.

The keynotes will dig into themes of streaming, data and analytics, globalization, and industry collision, and are intended to spark smaller, more focused breakout sessions where attendees can explore important questions impacting artists and the music industry: How do creative people thrive in a digital world? How do local musicians define success in a global industry? How can artists use data to get to sound business decisions without stifling creativity? How do artists collide with industries like gaming, tech, and film that have always subsisted on the fringe of the music economy?

We hope you’ll join Macklemore, Quincy, and Portia, all deeply rooted in the Northwest, as they dive into these questions together and help us build a community that supports and uplifts artists at every level of their career.
Early bird tickets are now on sale. Lineups and more good news right on the horizon, then stay tuned.

As always, keep an eye on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram in 2017 for more information and updates.
