The Hype magazine caught up with Campion Platt at the 2017 Architectural Digest Design Show and asked a few questions about the future in interior design. Today, luxury incorporates technology. Platt describes in a satellite interview, how you can learn about the latest trends in interior design that are both affordable and surprising.
What is happening there at the Architectural Digest Design Show?
The design show here in New York gets netter every year! There are always more vendors, more product, better products and new items in technology. For instance, at Jenn – Air, they have a bunch of great new devices that work right through your smart phone.
What are the latest trends in interior design?
When you come to this kind of show and you walk the aisles, you see what’s new, because these are the leading-edge companies that are providing products at the top end of the field who have enough energy and resource to find out what people really want.
What are the best ways to save money on your own DIY project?
When we work on projects, we work on high level, medium level and sometimes low level as well. When you are at the low level, meaning a lower budget, thinking about doing different kinds of things with paint maybe to just feature a wall, is a good way to save money.
What is “Future Proof” technology and how does it apply to modern interior design?
So, there is this connection between technology and design. It is undeniable. Anybody who is making products should be thinking about it. The idea of “Future Proof” is the same as saying it is always up gradable. Meaning if I buy a device today, it is not going to be obsolete next year. You will be able to download new software with new features to make it current.
