Josh Jacobson ‘Polaroids’

When I headed out to cover South by Southwest this year, Josh Jacobson (@joshjacobsongswas one of the artists I most looked forward to seeing, schedule permitting. As we know, even the best laid plans sometimes go awry and I missed his performance however, I’m pleased to be able to introduce him to you via his insanely good joint “Polaroids.”

Amazingly pure voiced and a master of timbre, Josh takes you on an emotional journey and deposits you safely at the end of the tour…but you are not unchanged! In my opinion, the best intro to an artist is via a live performance and so check out this beautiful performance he premiered via Live Nation‘s “Ones to Watch” series…

Live Nation’s Ones To Watch says of the video: “The Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist officially adds performer to that growing list of talents as he demonstrates genuine vocal and piano prowess in the intimate studio performance. While the original “Polaroids” features sweeping synths and anthemic drops, the live session truly takes us back to Jacobson’s jazz-y roots, backed by the organic instrumentals of long-time band members and friends.”

Jacobson says of the ‘From the Roots’ live sessions: “There’s a certain kind of magic that only happens when people are in a room playing their instruments together, and that feeling is what I love most about being a musician. My goal with From the Roots is to share that feeling with my fans, many of whom aren’t necessarily into jazz or instrumental music. I hope to build bridges with this project–maybe some of the dance music heads will be encouraged to check out more jazz, and vice versa. This is just the first of several FTR live videos I’ll be releasing this year.”

In only the past month, Josh Jacobson has proven his prowess as a performer, taking the stage at both SXSW in Austin, Texas (where he played five different showcasesduring his first run of the festival), and Miami Music Week. A highlight of the two week run was a live set at Beautiful Buzzz’s SXSW showcase (Get Buzzzed) where KJ Sawka of Pendulum played drums alongside Josh for his live debut at the festival. Josh will also take the stage nationally during his residency with the SoHo House collective.

Get Social with Josh and follow this incredible talent…he’s a music lovers dream.
