Raww Muzic – ‘It’s My Time’
Buzz is starting to form around one of Chicagoland’s newest and brightest artists, Raww Muzic. Raww Muzic is a dynamic artist that blends hip-hop, rap, and R&B.
Raised by a struggling single mother in Chicago for part of his childhood and in Aurora for another, he always had music, not only as a hobby, but as something that would fill the void for what he didn’t have. Raww Muzic, known back then as Johvon, was focused on basketball as a career goal and a way to change the life of not only himself, but also his family. However, a terrible accident at work involving a forklift led to an amputated limb. Not only did he lose his left foot, but he almost lost himself. “Music was my therapy then”, he says. “Music was the only way I could express myself and not keep everything bottled up.” Raww poured himself into his craft as a way to heal, and the results of that are in his brand-new EP, “It’s My Time.”
However, don’t expect his music to be sad and depressing, or even very angry. “I want to be a positive influence on kids,” the father of three says. “I want to portray truth and reliability through my music.” This is refreshing at a time when most of us just don’t connect to the bling and scandal most musicians are talking about. Though Raww Muzic is heavily influenced by the rappers and R&B singers of the 90s that he grew up with, and is a big fan of Twista and Do or Die. You’ll hear a sound that’s all his own when you listen to his music.
He credits his success to the people and groups that have helped him, such as Caramel Music Group, Don Mega, and Full Effect. Raww Muzic’s next projects are a music video for the title track off “It’s My Time” and a Chicago showcase at Club One this summer, and a special performance at Harlem Nights in Atlanta.
