Who Is Apollo Night LA’s RealLife?
Apollo Night LA artist of the week winner, ReaLife (@ReaLife253 ) formally going by the handle of Skrilla, can be easily described as one of the “hardest working artists to emerge from the Northwest.” Beginning his career as a “hype man” for another artist; he has steadily become one of the premier acts within the scene.
ReaLife strives to bring a “real” presence to the music industry and hip-hop community with honest, “thought provoking” lyrics.
We got RealLife to weigh in on a few things
From the outside looking in, who is ReaLife?
Honestly it depends on who your asking lol, some folks genuinely dig me as a person as well as the positive vibes I put out & the good in my heart. While others see an arrogant, selfish SOB lol. Its really a matter of perspective, get to know me tho I might just be the coolest cat you ever met [shoulder shrug].
What brought you to the entertainment industry, music specifically?
Looking back on it I think it was a natural progression. Before me, my dad had done a lil dj’n, moms sang a bit & my grandma (rip) was a go-go dancer lol. So growing up at home music was always a thing, in school reading an writing were always my favorite subjects, I dug poetry as well and at some point along the way put it all together.
Tell us about your current project and your ApolloNightLa “Artist of the Week” winning single
Well, the song that was aired on the show is called “Barricades” it’s a single from our album “Headphone Musik”(both available at https://realife253.
For new listeners, what song of yours would you pick as an introduction to you?
Honestly I’d say start with the intro on “Headphone Musik” an then let the whole record play, my life is in the music.
What’s the CRAZIEST “where they do that at?!” moment….
Hahaha ok….I was just telling my producer about this the other night but I once got arrested an spent a weekend in jail for spitting on a side walk hahaha gotta love TPD.
