Five Questions With Marcylis Cunningham:

Born in Cincinnati, OH, on August 20th, 21-year-old Marcylis Cunningham has grown to – what has now led to – the makings of a promising career in the music industry. Growing up in a household of rhythm, rhyme, and a convenient in-home studio, both of Marcylis’ parents exposed him to music at the very young age of 3, at which he acquired his first mic.

His dreams of embarking on a music career became second rate to his passion for basketball. Although being the star athlete was the initial goal, at the age of 8, Marcylis recorded his first group single, “We Some G’s”. Over time, the group earned popularity for their musical talent while performing in their local community, which in turn, was the beginning of fame for Marcylis.

In 2009, Marcylis recorded and released his first single, “My Girl“, which – along two other singles – were put into rotation for a year. From this, he gained a lot of recognition, and began venturing into new avenues of the industry. In 2015, music became his rapture and lifestyle when he was brought to Atlanta, GA through modeling agency, J. Pervis Click Models. Thereafter, Marcylis began earning work in independent films and had the chance to land roles in feature films. Once realizing that moving to the new Mecca for Black entertainment, he met with producer **4.0** and was then featured on fellow recording artist Ray Moon’s “Lately”.

Moreover, he went on to meet with producer B. Smith , with whom he collaborated for his next single, “Gang” featuring FYB Tevin. Marcylis proceeded to produce more musical content with artists FYB Tevin and Bandit Gang Marco.

As you see yourself, who is Marcylis?

Marcylis is the next big thing in music, film and television. He is that 90s R&B sound that the world’s been craving. He’s someone everyone loves and if you don’t know him yet, one of your friends probably does. He’s spontaneous, wild and creative… a true creator. He’s a star that the world hasn’t officially met yet. An inspiration. An artist. A new sound. Marcylis is a walking billboard, multi-million-dollar brand… a real billboard fly guy.

Do you feel your current project is the best introduction to you as an artist?

Definitely. “820” on the way. This freshman album is my life. It is centered around every moment from the day I was born until this day. “820” is going to project who Marcylis is.

Tell us a bit about yourself outside of music, what is on your bucket list to accomplish as an entertainer.

I’m also an actor, so winning a few Oscar awards and Best New Breakout Actor are on my bucket list. Along with starring in big major movies and on television. I also want to jump into the virtual world and design a few video games… making major moves to broaden myself as a brand.

Will you be finishing out 2017 on the road or what’s on your horizon for 2017?

I will be finishing out 2017 going into production, set to film a movie. I will be dropping my album “820” and pushing a few other singles; Problems, My Girl, Working So Hard, and Replay along with filming music videos. Word on the streets is a Jodeci biopic is reportedly coming to VH1 this year and I had a huge social media buzz to play the lead singer, Dalvin.

The Hype Magazine wants to know: What’s been your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?! Or “WTF?!” moment thus far in your career?

I jumped on a moving train going about 70 mph with another train coming in the opposite direction and I jumped off of it. (I have it on video and all)
