Macklemore featuring Lil Yachty Marmalade

Seattle Grammy-Award winning rapper, Macklemore teams with spunky rapper Lil Yachty on new single, Marmalade.  The single debuted on the Zane Lowe Beats1 radio show.  After the recent split from frequent collaborator Ryan Lewis, Macklemore has crafted a new sound.  The rapper Lil Yachty is known for his unorthodox colorful brand of rap. As his first solo effort, he stated in the interview he has approximately 40 songs recorded, and plans to forge a track list from the dense catalogue.  In 2016 Macklemore debuted album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made featuring hit singles “Thrift Shop” and “Cant Hold Us.”  “Thrift Shop” was coveted as the first single to top the charts without a major deal in almost two decades.  The duo of Ryan Lewis and Macklemore won 4 Grammy’s during their tenure as a duo.  Macklemore returned this summer releasing single, “Glorious.” featuring Sklyar Grey, who co-wrote the Eminem and Rhianna single, “Love The Way You Lie.”  Despite the 2016 single, “Drug Dealer” drawing some controversy, Macklemore has tackled modern society, from “Same Love” addressing the freedom to love to “White Privilege II” addressing the gentrification of hip hop.  Macklemore entered the rap game in the early 2000’s as Professor Macklemore distributing his own units to build an audience.  Macklemore shows no fear in exploring the rap genre.  Lil Yachty entered the rap scene in 2015 with an outlandish form of wordplay in single, “Minnesota.” He’s gained steamed with collaborations with artist like Playboi Carti, D.R.A.M., Kyle, and Steve Aoki.  His debut album Teenage Emotions has a utopian, highly energetic form of bubblegum rap.   These two artist share a affinity for parodies in rap music.  The single is a fun-loving ride, and Lil Yachty is the chauffeur.
