Rhyme Report: Summer Williams “97”

Positive Vibes, and cross over potential is exactly how Summer Williams prefers to be described. Aside from talented, and a breath of fresh air to a genre that has taken a lot of flack recently, Summer Williams is inspired by the buzz surrounding the release of her lead single, 97.   After unveiling the artwork, she has delivered the record itself as she looks to close out the summer in a strong way.  Recently stating in an interview, “97 taps into love in the 90s. Martin and Gina, 90s shows, and wanted to express if i can’t have a love love that i don’t want it.”

Disclosing that the content was subsequent to her ending a long term relationship, it is easy to see how candid the lyrics are.  Wearing her heart on her sleeves the Black17/Sony Red songstress is rising in demand as tastemakers look forward to the emotion that oozes from the stage when she performs.  Her background in gospel, and inherited vocals make her a shoe in for a legacy which will be comparable to the greats.
