Who Is Ruby Recordings’ 9000?

Whether you’re snapping your fingers to hot tunes on the way to school with friends, gyrating hips to salsa music played at the club, or the illest beats taking over your Beats By Dre headphones before a huge basketball game, music is the universal language that unites people from all walks of life.

An independent label, Ruby, an independent record company has acquired a wealth of artists from the Hip Hop and R&B genres. The new kids on the block, Ruby Recordings has only been in existence for two years. A big draw to the company is that they don’t house exclusive bookings, they offer distribution deals and management services.

Ruby’s mission is to provide a platform to aspiring artists to grow organically, and they have provided the latest technology and resources available. They’re growing with their artists, and according to Ruby’s CEO Travon “Trizzy” Howard, Ruby has been accepting demos from artists who can match their label expectations. A former student of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), Howard is excited about the potential of one of Ruby’s newest signed acts, 9000.

Platinum Artist 9000

This intro to 9000; the Pull Up remix ft. Yo Gotti says he can hold his own.

The two met via rapper Dave Mac, and Howard signed him—it’s been a happy marriage ever since. 9000, has completed three singles with producers Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital, and Timberland that will be dropping soon.

9000 is a mover and a shaker. He created a buzz on the internet on platforms like Soundcloud, Facebook, and Twitter and as a result, his content and genuine persona got him signed. He’s beyond ecstatic for the release of his album, No Open Flames, slated to release under Ruby Recordings. “Since business comes first, I learned and built my music off an economic platform and transformed the way the average artist does business,” 9000 told The Hype.

Howard is just glad he signed him before another label did: “Several other interested people have shown interest in him,” said Howard. “His story has caught the attention of boxers, NASCAR, artists, and labels, so that’s a good reason to build a story about him.”

“So he is not just providing the label, suitable material. He is also contributing to the brand exposure we need.”

9000 is one of many talents on Ruby Recordings (@RubyRecordings). They’ve also got other acts including Haitian Fresh, DJ BJ, Lazarus, Michael Wavves, Young Pyro, Jeuice, JT Holmes, Crisis, Isa Blaque, and Samie Bower. These emerging artists are also a part of the upcoming #RUBY2K17 tour. They will be traveling in Canada for over a month.

Bonus: 9000 dropped his debut EP on Ruby Recordings this May and it’s dope.
