Who is Star Identity?

Star is a writer/producer from Kentucky.  Star writes Pop, RnB, Rock, Country, and Soundtrack.  Through his many years of writing Star has had the honor to meet and work with great artists.  The most notable recent artist is Ray Lavender in which star had a great sessions learning and working behind Ray for some time.  Ray also did a few of Star’s that’s on Star’s Supernova Project.

At this point in his career Star has been stock piling songs in different genres.  His newest project is called the Supernova Project.  It is a project that is made up of different genres of music to showcase his flexibility as an writer.  Stars purpose it to stay in is own lane and pave his own road and path that is a distinctive sound that has his brand built into it.  Not sounding like everything else that is out, is what Star tries to achieve.  Times change and time stops for no one but going back in time people could tell what individual person wrote what song that was out. That person that was responsible for the song paved his or her way and had their distinct sound that stood out. That format is what Star is building on. To have a sound that as soon as it’s played by an artist that sound automatically be identified as a Star song.

Star’s goal is to be an industry writer. His goal has always been to work hard and earn a Publishing Deal. Just to be able to meet and learn from people that share the same love that he does for music. Being the man behind the mask and the man behind the scene is what Star reaches for everyday. He has been blessed with a tremendous talent and prays that a chance is given for his light to shine as bright as ever through major artists.

As you see yourself, who is Star Identity?

I am a songwriter with a love of music. I don’t label music or believe that only certain races are inherently supposed to stay within one genre of music. I believe that many artists over the years have proven that as fact. Examples are Eminem ” with Hip-hop “, Justin Timberlake with ” Pop and R&B”, Darius Rucker with ” Country”, and Lenny Kravitz with ” Rock. ” With my mask as my image, I’m not bound to a category. At first glance, someone wouldn’t imagine that I write Country or Rock as well as the other genres. I believe in the overall message of music. I know that lyrics can change and improve someone’s day and in some cases their lives. I am a writer that has been blessed with a talent to write all types of music. I pick up the pen and allow whatever talent I have been blessed with to guide me.

Tell us about your current writing projects and who you have worked with thus far?

My current project is called ” VIRUS. ” It is quite different from the last project called “SUPERNOVA.” The new project is more of the new style industry sound but I kept the spirit and love of Old School in with the message of the songs. The lyrics will apply to most anyone in their life. The Project should move the listener through love, anger, partying, or dancing. The projects are my sales catalog. They are my Sears, J.C. Penny, or even Fingerhut, if that’s your thing. Lol! Every song on each Project is for sale or for placement under the right circumstance.

All the years I have been writing, I am just now breaking through to the main stream level. It’s been difficult to promote myself solely as a writer as opposed to a singer/songwriter. I have been blessed to have Ray Lavender as a mentor. Ray was mentored by Teddy Riley. I am very fortunate to have Ray lead me in the right direction and guide me through this rollercoaster of a career. I am learning from Ray. He is passing on the lessons Teddy Riley taught him. It’s a Wealth of Knowledge most people will never have. Ray Lavender has dropped two demos with me. One named ” Making UP ” and the other is ” The Most Beautiful “. We did a re-write on ” Making Up ” and did splits on the writing.

What’s on your bucket list to accomplish as a songwriter?

I have aspired to being a writer since I was in the 4th grade. I started writing after seeing Purple Rain, which I wasn’t allowed to watch. My mother wasn’t feeling that at all. I tricked my Dad (R.I.P.) into renting Purple Rain. The next day I was writing. Now I want to be a top writer in the industry. I want my own brand, and more importantly, I want my own sound. Some of the great writers have a signature sound. Prince, Neo, Jermaine Dupree, Teddy Riley, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Baby Face, Michael Jackson, Willie Nelson, Eminem, Alicia Keys and Crystal Nichole. Having a signature sound is one of the things I’d love to accomplish. My industry goal is to get a Publishing deal and write for a label. My bucket list of Artists is pretty long because I admire so many of them. Here is my top Bucket List Artists: Usher, Chris Brown, Blackstreet, Justin Timberlake, Garth Brooks, Alicia Keys, Backstreet Boys, Adele, New Edition, Brittany Spears, Katy Perry, Trey Songz, Mariah Carey, Maroon 5, Cold Play, Taylor Swift, and Justin Bieber.

What’s on your horizon for 2018?

I recently started working with AER Management in Miami. AER also works very closely with Luke Records Latin Division. I look forward to their support while building my brand. I hope to be meet as many Artists, CEO’s, A&R’s, Managers, Producers, and positive ties that I can in 2018 and make strong allegiances. I am confident that 2018 will be the year that I will get several Publishing deals and work writing for a label which is something that I’ve worked so hard to earn.

The Hype Magazine wants to know: What’s been your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?! Or “WTF?!” moment thus far in your career?

Lol! There have been quite a few WTF moments, but there’s one that always sticks out. I had written a few songs and went to Miami with one of my former Status group members to demo the songs. It was his first time going to Miami. We blazed at least four blunts through every state driving from Kentucky to Florida. We were so high in the clouds, when we hit Ft. Lauderdale, we could have flown down there. He was stuck so he said ” Bru don’t go straight to the beach. I need to freshen up before I see any woman.” Well shhh… I was driving and he was sleeping and I drove straight to Ft. Lauderdale Beach. He woke up and saw all the scattered a$$ and thought he died and went to Heaven. He starts going in on me about how he needed a shower, etc… UNTIL THIS MERCEDEZ PULLS UP BESIDE us with two blondes. His attention goes from arguing at me (keep in mind “I’m still high as a kite”) to this blonde on the passenger side. We stop at a red light right beside them and he starts spitting game. “Yo momma! Hey whad up? We here baby! Let me holla at you.” The woman was smiling and waving. Then he said, ” Come on baby follow us to the hotel ” The blonde blows him a kiss which he caught in midair. That’s when the woman looks over at the passenger in a DEEP BARRY WHITE VOICE… and said, ” I WONDER IF HE KNOWS I’M A MAN ” LOL ” I SOBERED UP SO QUICK AND DIED OF LAUGHTER.
