Najarra Townsend On Her New Film “DEMENTIA PART II,” Her Band “Archway Or The Highway,” Future Career Plans & More

Dark Star Pictures and Bloody Disgusting are scheduled to release the midnight horror film DEMENTIA PART II to theaters on May 21, 2021 and to VOD, Digital HD and DVD on June 1, 2021. Amazingly, DEMENTIA PART II was produced from conception to its world premiere screening at Cinepocalype Film Festival by the writer/director team Matt Mercer and Mike Testin (The Salesman, Dementia) in just 5 weeks. Yes, you read that right: 5 weeks including pitch, creative and filming.

In DEMENTIA PART II, Wendell (played by Matt Mercer) receives a threatening phone call from his parole officer Reggie (played by Graham Skipper). If he doesn’t find a job immediately, he will face serious legal repercussions. Wendell wrangles some home maintenance work for a seemingly benign older woman, Suzanne (played by Suzanne Voss), who persists in giving him increasingly-absurd tasks to complete around the house. As the workday progresses, Wendell is thrown into an ever-escalating nightmare, and comes face to face with an unexpected evil. Suzanne hides a dark secret, and it is up to Wendell and Suzanne’s daughter Sheila (Najarra Townsend) to put an end to her madness.

The aforementioned Najarra Townsend began her career performing in theater all along the coast of Southern California. Her performance in Miranda July’s award-winning drama Me And You And Everyone We Know drew international attention. Audiences saw a new side of Townsend in the horror hit Contracted. Shortly after, she landed lead roles in the short horror film The Stylist and the crime drama Wolf Mother. She has brought the character Claire back to life in the feature film version of The Stylist, which is scheduled to be released on Blu-Ray by Arrow Video next month on June 8, 2021.

On May 14, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Najarra Townsend via Zoom, as embedded below. Besides DEMENTIA PART II, we spoke about other upcoming releases, her band Archway Or The Highway, future plans and more. Additional info on Townsend and/or her participating within DEMENTIA PART II can be found by clicking here, here, here and here.
