Former BET Producer puts together the Ultimate Hip-Hop Documentary

Choke No Joke, a legendary Videographer from the Bronx, NY, has put together what could be one of the biggest hip-hop documentaries of all time, “The Hip-Hop Nucleus.” In his documentary, Choke strings together historical footage of Hip-Hop’s greatest talents, while weaving in interview after interview of many hip-hop influencers. In creating this documentary, Choke’s goal is to, “just tell a great story.”

“Everything that embodies Hip-Hop, that’s what you found in The Tunnel,” said Choke.  “The Tunnel” nightclub, was the center of Hip-Hop in the early 90’s separating the amateurs from the superstars. The biggest and largest acts of all time have performed at this nightclub, making it a true hip-hop mecca as it’s legacy resides.

Though the club was eventually closed down, in it’s active years, it was the place to be, especially if you wanted to run the game called, “Hip-Hop.” Choke No Joke said, “Anytime Jay Z came there it was Bananas.” He adds, “But the time that Dr. Dre,  Snoop Dogg, and Nate Dogg came, it was crazy.”

While the creative process is usually fun, Choke No Joke found that he met resistance when scheduling and completing interviews to complete his project. “I had artists that would tell me they’ll do the interview, and then all of a sudden, it just goes away. I would’ve never known that if it wasn’t for Big Kap, an original Tunnel DJ,” said Choke. Specific details from the late DJ Big Kap’s side of the story are documented in, “The Hip-Hop Nucleus.” Nonetheless, he was able to compile a great documentary.  In an interview on DTF Radio, Choke speaks about the resistance, the project, and what the Tunnel is all about, as he prepares for the release of his new documentary.

“The Hip-Hop Nucleus,” is scheduled to debut exclusively on the iTunes platform this February 2017. Above is the official trailer featuring interviews from DJ Big Kap,  DJ Johnny Walker Red, MC Frank Jugga, Sean Brofey, Sterling Cox, Alpha, Vee, Omega, Big G, Naughty by Nature’s Vin Rock, Styles P of The Lox, Tek of Smif-N-Wessun, Mr. Cheeks of The Lost Boyz, Kool DJ Red Alert, DJ Kid Capri, G Wiz, Rich Dollaz of Love and Hip Hop, DJ Jazzy Joyce, Born True of Franchise Marketing, QB Big Biz, Treach of Naughty By Nature, All Lyrical, J.
