Urban vs Couture Spring 2014 Show

Urban vs. Couture truly brought what we at The Hype Magazine call “Hip-Hop to Hollywood” to the runway this season. With so many celebrity guests in the building, the red carpet alone was nothing less of a success. From the time you walked in the door it was a warm embrace, followed by the pop-up shop. Loved the items! There were accessories from effortless to extraordinary, unique clothing and Makeup and Beyond of course.

Traci Steele was a wonderful host. She really knows how to get the crowd hype both in front and behind those turn-tables. Jazi J did her thing on the mic as well! “My my my my ponytail!” I tell you what, that ponytail was in there well because she surely waived her hair back and forth.

Let’s talk about the designers….

Adianic: This swimwear line is nothing like I have ever seen before. She sure knows how to implement a slew of new trends into one piece. There was fishnets, key holes, color blocking, mesh, fringe, you name it. It was done well, I love this line!

AvantOOH: One word, “FUTURISTIC!” These pieces will make you look as though you are from another planet where water is glitter, grass is thread, walls are mirrors and well…you get the picture. Step your closet up and get ahead of the game.

CoCo Vida: This swimwear line surely made me want to rock it to the Caribbean with my red bottom sandals on to match. She did that! I absolutely adored the floral top, perfect for the “itty bitty…well you know the rest…committee.”

Gayla Rogers Collection: Elegance for the more mature crowd done with class, this is what the collection screams. This collection stands for money, you can go get it, hit the red carpet looking like a million bucks and/ or do anything a go-getter does in this attire.

Taylored Misfit: This collection was great! They definitely got the memo about patterns and purple being the hottest things to hit the streets for this summer. Every young lady needs at least one of these pieces to rock out in the heat.

Neodasha: These girls really know how to put on a show. The choreography made the crowd go wild. They have a little something for every size, casual but chic.

Veritia Simone: This is a great reasonably priced boutique. They even have some items from our friends over at Iridium 77.  The versatility on the runway was great!

Royal Eminence: Killed the show! They even do custom accessories…including shoes. Now that right there is something every designer just can’t do.

Mia Alex-andra: “I can transform ya.” (In my Chris Brown Voice) Everything that hit that runway transformed from one outfit to another. Versatility is always a positive and in this case you can get three outfits for the price of one so I know this is an investment that I am surely going to make. Everyone is for saving money, I’m sure.

The Creative Director behind Urban vs Couture is Mr. Drew Johnson.  He holds a Bachelors in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Marketing. With this very successful Urban vs Couture Fashion Show, he decided to take it one step further by creating Urban vs Couture College Edition.  He knows that our youth is the future and he wants to put them on display now rather than later. The Urban vs Couture Fashion Show College Edition will focus on 10 schools in and around the Atlanta metro area. The fashion show will feature one designer from each school who will showcase their lines of clothing in the fall of 2014. The featured designer must be currently enrolled at the chosen school, or 2 years removed from the chosen school. All participants models, MUA, and stylist must also be a current student or 2 years removed from school.
