Live Session: We Are Toonz

Exploding onto the scene with their joint “Drop That NaeNae,” which went nuclear after Washington Wizards player John Wall broke into the dance following his winning dunk during NBA All-Star Weekend.

The joint opened at #38 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and #20 on the Hot Rap Songs charts as a result of a whopping 16,000 downloads sold for the week of February 23. 73% of the song’s points on the charts were sales based. “Drop That Nae Nae” also hit #27 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs chart.

The group’s Radio Toonz project hit in October of this year, but the group has kept it pushing and they told me something is in the works which may include Miley Cyrus…I hope it happens!!!

We got a chance to chat with the group, to talk about their rapid launch to the top which included an extremely popular Coca Cola commercial. They are the first Hip-Hop based group to work with the brand since Tyrese, waaaaaayyyyy back! Our conversation was fun and refreshing, these young lions know what they want and it’s not to be the toughest kid on the block, these guys want to be the PARTY!
