0Meet the ‘King of Positivity’ Kenny M. Alvarez
Kenny M. Alvarez, better known as I.K.P. (The Infamous King of Positivity) is a Brooklyn, New York-Â?born, Norfolk, Virginia-Â?raised rapper-Â?producer and spoken word performer.
His moniker, “The Infamous King of Positivity,” is a dual meaning that represents a devotion to creating music that focuses on positivity and sharing his compassion for the communities affected by HIV and AIDS.
During his five-�year service in the United States Marines Corps, I.K.P. continued to hone his performance and recording skills. After being discharged honorably in 2008, I.K.P attended Full Sail University, in Winter Park FL, studying Recording Arts and graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Business.
In 2011, I.K.P. released his official debut album, “Ignoring the Known Protocol,” which includes the single, “Let It B. Known,” nominated in 2011 for an OutMusic Award, an honor that is presented to top talent in the lesbian-Âgay-Âbisexual-Âtransgender (LGBT) community.
The full-Âlength album also includes the singles “The Poetry of Color,” “Novocaine (Push & Pull)” and “Hunt Me Down.” The video for the latter of the singles was a stylish conceptual video that was honored as “Best Video So Far” at the 2014 RightOutTV Awards, a prize presented to LGBT musicians and their allies for excellence in their work.
After the success of his debut independent release, I.K.P. released his first mixtape “I.K.P. 4 President Part 1: E Pluribus Unum” then delivered his second full-Âlength independent album “Executive Realness” in November 2013, producing the singles “Super-ÂTrippy,” with it’s neon-Âcolored visual, and the title track with an accompanying sophisticated and sleek music video.
