Tragedy f/ KRS-One & A.G. “Modern Day Gangsta”

1

The “Modern Day Gangsta” comes in many forms throughout all levels of society. Here are three perspectives; the crime boss, the politician and the unarmed black man.

Three of Hip Hop’s luminaries combine over baneful strings delivered in a landscape of energy by producer Stricknine (MF Grimm, Thirstin Howl, Blaq Poet) to re-establish a message that is more relevant now than ever before, as this wake up call to the passive launches with Tragedy drawing comparison between political domination and ruling in the streets, with the lyrical finesse of a veteran steeped in 30 years of Queensbridge history. KR-One returns as ‘The Teacha,’ educating us on the infiltration of corporate America by gangster tacticians and A.G. characterizes one of the numerous victims of police murder with a sombre hostility that draws a firm line in the pavement.

“Modern Day Gangsta” will appear on Tragedy’s upcoming (and as of yet still untitled) solo album which will be released this summer.
