Geneva: Davey Star what an honor sir,  how are you doing today?

Davey Star: I’m doing fine, working to make my dreams happen

Geneva: Let’s get right into your talented catalog, Your soundcloud is that playlist. Now you have collaborated with artists of a variety of styles and sounds, may I ask how you pick whom to work with?

Davey Star: (Laughs) Thank you and Its kind of a challenge, at first, for me. Producers always send me great beats and hooks, I used to just pick every last one one of them but once I started to focus on what type of direction I wanted to take for my projects, it was basically trial and error type of thing after that

Geneva: You even work with the best producers recently teaming up with Drake’s producer T-Minus  for your hit track ” Break The Bank” what was the studio like making this banger?

DS: It was incredible! I used to always wanted to work with him in the beginning. Now, that I’m in the position to do so, it was a blessing to see it happened. We will have more stuff coming soon! I can’t wait to release it to the fans

G: As an artist how would you say social media plays a role?

DS: Social media plays a huge role. It allows us to interact with our fans and let them into our world, without the cameras and stuff. We love to talk to our fans, video chat with them, and even down to calling them, we love every minute of it!

G: Now social media can be addicting, how often can your fans reach you on your Twitter or Instagram, and what kind of comments do the ladies send that make you take a second look?

DS: My fans can reach me anyday or any minute they can. I’m always by my phone to see what they say about my music. I did it to inspire and motivate them and it does the same to me whenever I see them talk positive about it. A bunch of ladies send me crazy fanmails every single day! (laughs) One says that when she meets me, she want to have my kids, another one saying that she is going to rape me, another one said that she wants to marry my father just so she could get close to me! Its just such a “Wooooooow!” moment everyday (laughs)

G: 2016 is coming sooner than expected so what are your plans for the music lovers and where will they be seeing you soon?

DS: Well my plans are to continue to be able to raise my buzz as an artist and as a producer/DJ. I’ve entered into a new world of producing music and I feel like a kid at a candy store! Its crazy how I missed this aspect of music but now its added to my everyday routine when I go to the studio.

G: What was your biggest motivation to become a music artist. and what drives you to still create with such originality?

DS: My motivation was seeing my family struggle. I don’t like when I see them struggle and I feel that I can do something about it. God gave me a gift and I’m going to use it. What drives me is the fact that I don’t want to be the same. I don’t want to fall in the same category as other artists. I’ve always strive to be different in everything that I do.

G: If you could collaborate with any artist past or present for one track who would you choose and why?

DS: Will Smith. He was the one that actually got me wanting to do music in the first place. I love how his music sold millions of copies and it was clean. Its never any cursing, or profanity in his raps. Thats what influenced me to do the same with my music.

G: Kinda the same question but if you could put together a tour past or present artist who would you bring on the tour and what would you name that tour?

DS: I would have to say Will Smith. I would name the tour “Old Skool Meets New Skool” Tour. It would also have a lot of surprise guests on it as well.

G: Now you are not in any bad light or have any bad press situations. As an artist how important is it to remain in the positive and to keep humble?

DS: To me, very important. I have always been raised up to be positive and humble, even if I’m in a funky situation, I still keep my head up and be positive.

G: Trap Language is being released on the 26th of this month of August! Congrats what’s this music masterpiece going to bring your fans?

DS: YES! This masterpiece will be a lot different from what you been hearing from me. Its and EDM/Trap record. I’ve always been influenced by seeing Disclosure, Diplo, and Calvin Harris concerts that it made me want to do this type of music. Hopefully my fans will enjoy it as much as I did making it!

G: Your top 3 rules to live by or your personal motto?

DS: “Work hard now so that your future self can thank you later!”

G: Davey Star it’s been an honor speaking with you, before we go for your increasingly growing fan base where can newcomers find you and thanks again for taking the time out!

DS: You’re welcome and thanks for having me! They can find me on Twitter, Instagram, and Soundcloud as @RealDaveyStar.
