Gary Clark Jr. Announces Second Album “The Story of SOnny Boy”

Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and virtuoso guitarist Gary Clark Jr. will release his second full-length studio album, entitled The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, on September 11th via Warner Bros. Records. It will be available for pre-order from participating digital retailers beginning today, July 30th. Those who pre-order will receive an instant download of two new album tracks: “The Healing,” and “Grinder.” Click here to pre-order. Additional Instant grat tracks will follow and will be announced shortly.

The Story of Sonny Boy Slim is the uncanny evolution of an artist embracing his roots with a rarified grace, style, and an inextinguishable passion which reflects his vision as a songwriter, groove master, and the vocal force of nature he has become, while his guitar virtuosity already speaks (quite voluminously) for itself. The Story of Sonny Boy Slim was written, produced, arranged by Clark, who also plays most of the instruments, with assistance from his long-time live soundman, Bharath “Cheex” Ramanat and Jason Sciba. Backing vocals are provided by his sisters Shawn and Savannah Clark. The album was recorded by Ramanath and Sciba.

As witnessed by the global reception of Clark’s first studio album, Blak And Blu (2012) and Gary Clark Jr. LIVE (2014), the young Texan has established himself as a sonic expressionist and guitar virtuoso who has absorbed classic forms of the past while looking forward to forge his own path of thoroughly modern music that can only be classified as “Gary Clark Jr. Music.” The direction of The Story of Sonny Boy Slim takes Clark even further into his diverse musical roots.

Clark has just completed a sold-out European tour and begins his domestic run this weekend at Lollapalooza 2015 in Chicago, followed by a series of fall shows with Foo Fighters in September and October. U.S headline dates have just been confirmed and will begin Oct 31 in Boston and wind up in Portland, OR, on April 13. All confirmed tour dates are listed below.

Every ticket purchased online for Gary Clark Jr.’s fall/spring headline tour, will receive a standard digital download of The Story of Sonny Boy Slim. Fans will receive an email from [email protected] on the album’s release date, Sep 11, 2015, containing redemption instructions.
