Who Is: ApolloNightLA Artist of the Week Fiyah Tha Spitta

FB_IMG_1441149317755ApolloNightLA always supports the independent artist on the grind…but they really have to be on the grind. Fiya Tha Spitta is this weeks Artist of the Week honors on the ApolloNightLA radio show which airs weekly every Monday…check them out at www.apollonightla.com We are getting some very strong indie intel from this show!

Fiyah Tha Spitta, also known Girard Bostic III (GB3), born in Wayne, Michigan and raised in Inkster, Michigan. He was always listening to music with his father and uncle, artists such as Criss Cross, Dj Quik, Eric B & Rakim, Run DMC, Esham, 2pac, Too Short and Twista just to name a few.

It was 2000 when Fiyah spit his first recorded verse, he was introduced to the studio by his Uncle Ken Taylor and mentor Lawrence Simmons aka Low 14. He and his group at the time, S.E.T. (Separate Equal Talents) recorded a freestyle to Lil Kim’s “Jumpoff” beat, and that’s what sparked it all.

2008 came along and he linked up with Michigan artists, Coalition Breezy, Yung Nell, A2 and producer Dat Boi Nate to form “The Coalition”. With The Coalition, they took the scene in Detroit by storm, performing at venues such as The Bullfrog, Saint Andrews, MVPs, Stardust, etc. They also dropped a project called “The Demo” which showed the teams versatility.

Fiyah has dropped notable projects such as “#1 Draft Pick”, “The Meltdown Vol. 1”, “First 48: Industry Beat Massacre”, and most recent project “The Meltdown Vol. 2: Total Destruction”. You can exact nothing but pure talent, reality music, knowledge and greatness from this amazing artist.

From the outside looking in, who is Fiyah Tha Spitta?

He is a unique, yet extremely talented individual who knows his worth and purpose on this earth. An individual who strives to be heard and will be heard, a rebel who uses his words to speak to his people. He is one who will not and I quote, “Sugarcoat a damn thing for anyone.”

What brought you to the entertainment industry, music specifically?

Well the summer of 2000, my uncle owned a record shop and he had my bros and I back and forth in the shop. One day, he came by and asked my pops could he scoop us up. He knew there was nothing but trouble in the streets of Inkster, so he figure he give me and my bros something to keep us busy. So he end up taking us to his friend, Low 14’s house, and we hit the studio, from there on, I knew this was what I was meant to do.

Tell us about your current project and your ApolloNightLA “Artist of the Week” winning single “Feeling You”.

I am actually have two projects in the making, I have my solo debut which is titled “Born 2 Rise, Expected 2 Fall”, and my label compilation titled “World Premiere”. So I am a busy guy. My recent mixtape which has been out for a few months, “The Meltdown 2: Total Destruction is pretty dope, some exclusive joints and freestyles, so check that out.

As far as my Apollo Night LA “Artist Of the Week” winning single, I was pretty excited that it won, it is titled “Feeling You”, produced by Kidd Frankie. It’s pretty much a song I wrote about this chick, and how she made ya boy feel when I first saw her, kinda like a love at first sight thing.

For new listeners, what song of yours would you pick as an introduction to you?

I have a track called “Re-Introduction”, to show the hip-hoppers i mean business, and “I Will” for the ladies, need I saw more lol.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

So I hate talking about this but my brother was in the basement, sleep in his room, and my dad told me to go wake him up for dinner. I takes my ass downstairs and goes to wake him up, I like “Ty get up, it’s time to get bro!”, he didn’t respond. So I walk in the room and started thumbing his ear and he wouldn’t get up. Now I’m thinking he might be unconscious so I checks his pulse and he had no pulse. Man at this point I’m like , he dead, he dead, so I started yelling, screaming and crying, and outta no where this dude wakes up like “Aaahhh, Gotcha Nigga!” Almost made me have a heart attack.
