Who Is: ApolloNightLA ‘Artist of the Week’ Flawliss Flows

From the city of Los Angeles, ApolloNightLA reaches across the globe giving a platform to unsigned and indie artists. I’m never amazed at the caliber of talent they pull in dropping their hottest joints and pushing like crazy to win their spot on the show. This week’s winner Flawliss Flows is one of those dope seeds they found!

ApolloNightLA "Artist of the Week" Flawliss Flows

Born into a family full of talent July 14, 1988 in Atlanta, Georgia, that was the day it was predetermined he would be a part of music forever, or at least starting from the age of twelve. Those days were simply what he would call fake free style battle rapping in a garage with friends, a small radio, and a blank cd with beats on it, but joking soon turned into wanting to become a full time artist. The first step he took was creating a stage name, which then he went by Young G and later it evolved into Young Geezy (the G is derived from his biological name Gary), soon after getting a taste of the “rap life” by spitting in front of friends and the neighborhood, he met a man name Keith Thomas who had his own underground label called The Clergy Records with his longtime associate/artist Roderick Brenson. This was the start of his first actual studio recording in 2005, learning a lot about “word play” from Roderick and a lot about the business from Keith gave him confidence he will become one of the best artist there is out here. As time passes along and new opportunities came his named changed to Flawliss (meaning forever living a warriors life in sentry situations), by then he has joined groups and made a name for himself by damaging every microphone he touched, he then continued on with his solo career landing him a manager for the first time, another underground label deal from “Splitting Image Entertainment,” which he recorded his first solo album “Thomas Road.” He then went onto perform events for Young Jeezy and an event for Akon, also blessed with FM radio interviews and airplay in Chicago, along with various blog talk radio shows such as K-100 Radio and Apollo Night LA. Flawliss Flows has done a great deal behind the scenes and now continuing his career as not only an artist but also a producer. As we know he was born into a family of talent, this left Flawliss with a multitude of musical talents such as rapping, singing, and having an ear for near perfect harmonies, which led Flawliss to create his own style, by teaching himself about beat production, he was then able to begin his journey to create new genres and new vibes. He is now affiliated with EGM management as a Producer, which makes him feel as if he is even closer to his goals. Flawliss Flows continues to grow and expand in knowledge as a business entrepreneur, and is now working on his next album called “Lights Out,” under his self-own label Flawliss Entertainment.

From the outside looking in, who is Flawliss Flows?

From the outside looking in Flawliss Flows is a “realist,” he is very intelligent and aware of everything going on with the world, he has a unique perspective of the world and is very humble.

What brought you to the entertainment industry, specifically music?

What brought me to the music industry is my love for different sounds, also to be able to be in competition with myself when it comes to verbal skills and usage of metaphors.

Tell us about your current project and your Apollo Night LA “Artist of the Week” joint “Outta Time.”

My current project is entitled “Lights Out” it will be one of my most dark but truthful albums to date with songs about worldly issues, a few of my own predictions of the future, but like always there will be a few songs just for the ladies to enjoy. The winning single on Apollo Night LA entitled “Outta Time” by EGM’s artist K.O. (who was also a winner of Artist of the week Apollo Night LA) featuring me was a song that just needed to happen, inspired by our grind and will to never stop, it was only right that we gave the people what they needed to encourage them to keep working hard, and that song is taking over the internet as we speak.

If you had to pick one of your songs for a first time listener to get to know you as an artist, what would it be?

“Set the Mood” featuring my brother/friend Sing Boi, and inspired by my younger brother Gino, would give an introduction of me because the song expresses the feelings of good vibe, fun, and relaxation something that I am all about.

Last but not least, The Hype Magazine wants to know “What’s your craziest where they do that at moment?”

My craziest where they do that at moment was recording a song to the “as we know as All the way turnt up, by Travis Porter,” I recorded a song to that beat, completely erased the song after hearing them on the radio, just to find out later they didn’t pay for the beat either (got sued), and that’s what gave me the craziest where they do that a moment.
