unnamed (11)

After yesterday’s Vice Beats1 Radio show and today’s Noisey premiere of, “AWOL,” a new song from EARTHGANG’s forthcoming debut album, STRAYS WITH RABIES, the Spillage Village duo is pleased to announce the pre-sale of the project, available to purchase now on iTunes. The song, “AWOL” is also available for purchase here. The official release date for Strays with Rabies, across all platforms, is on November 6th digitally and November 13th in-stores. The CD is being released via Empire Distribution.

In the last two years, EARTHGANG’s Doctur Dot and Johnny Venus captured national attention with the release of their 2013 debut album, Shallow Grave For Toys, and two national tours. During the process, they’ve learned to find the balance between artist expectations and real life obligations and relationships. The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League-produced “AWOL” stands out as a summary of those recent adventures and growing pains.

STRAYS WITH RABIES is a cohesive collection of music that the group crafted with the “regular people” in mind. “Throughout our career, we’ve always gotten more love from the fans, the people we grew up with, the regular folks, than anyone in the industry,” explains Johnny Venus. “That’s who we made this album for: the people who continue to grow with us.” Throughout the project, Earthgang once again makes it very clear that they are not to be pigeon-holed, with songs like “Lady Nectarine,” featuring Marian Mereba, which leans toward the soulful end of their musical range, while the drum and bass thump of “Liquor Store” showcases their fluidity.

EARTHGANG tells, Creative Loafing, Atlanta’s lead alternative weekly, that the STRAYS WITH RABIES is also based on their gypsy nature. “We just move around and make music along the way,” Doctur Dot says. “That’s the lifestyle. Hopefully people get more in tune with it. It’s about freedom and truth, man.”

Over the last few years, EARTHGANG have become media darlings, drawing the support of major music outlets that include Vice Noisey, Complex and AllHipHop.com and even a coveted “Unsigned Hype” nod in The Source. While remaining true to the anti-conformist attitude they cemented with their 2013 single “The F Bomb,” their forthcoming album, STRAYS WITH RABIES, is a natural progression of their sound that simultaneously invites new listeners while assuring their existing fans that they have no intention on changing who they are.

EARTHGANG just wrapped a main stage performance at this year’s A3C Festival and Convention, on Saturday, October 11th, alongside Rakim and De La Soul. The duo will appear at CMJ performing on the HWE Presents Leaders of the New Cool showcase at SOBs on Wednesday, October 14 @ 8PM.
