New Release from Skylar Stecker “This Is Me”

13-year-old singer songwriter Skylar Stecker has signed with pop alternative label Cherrytree Records/Interscope. The Wisconsin native, whose YouTube channel has over 28 million views and 300,000 subscribers, is gearing up to release her full-length debut album This Is Me due out on September 25th.

Skylar Stecker is the newest triple threat on our radar. The singer/songwriter/actress, who got her start through YouTube , is making headlines with her unique voice and relatable lyrics. What makes Skylar exceptional, though, is her warm, bold personality and her ability to assert herself in a competitive field despite her young age.

Most recently, Skylar performed on The Today Show on September 9 as Elvis Duran’s “Artist of the Month” during the fourth hour with Kathie Lee and Hoda. Her appearance on the show further indicated that this rising star is taking the music world by storm. When Skylar titled her upcoming album, “This is Me,” she insisted on showing people the real Skylar by taking the reigns with regard to her music and her image. She’s excited to show people the multiple facets of her life and personality through her new album, which reflects every aspect of who she is.

Although she’s only 13, her maturity speaks beyond her years. After getting her start through YouTube, Skylar moved to California with her family and signed with Cherrytree Records/Interscope. She spends weeks at a time writing music, recording in the studio, and rehearsing for performances and music videos.

Stecker made waves with her self-released EP Firecracker released earlier this year, with MTV Hits tapping her for their 2015 “Fresh Faces” music video block and sites such as Teen Vogue and PopCrush raving about her “super infectious” single “Hey,” saying it “perfectly shows off her pop sound with a touch of R&B and urban flare.” “Rooftop,” one of the songs featured on the EP currently has over 5 ½ million views on YouTube.

Her father Aaron Stecker played for ten years in the NFL as a running back. He played for The New Orleans Saints and won a Super Bowl ring with the Atlanta Falcons in 2002.
