Big Sean headlined the Hollywood Palladium for Day 21 of Red Bull Sound Select Presents: 30 Days in LA. In an explosive set, the Detroit rapper established why he’s worthy of Kanye West’s validation and was joined by Jhené Aiko for their hit collaboration “I Know”. Sound Select artist Mick Jenkins proved why he’s one of the most hyped new rappers to emerge this year, performing tracks from his latest EP Wave[s]. Opening the night was fellow Sound Select rapper Finding Novyon. The Minneapolis MC dropped tracks from his recent #TheFoodNetwork mixtape, which got the crowd well in the mood for what was a truly memorable night. Early arrivers received “Paradise” snapbacks inspired by Big Sean’s new album.

Tonight, the Echoplex (1154 Glendale Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026) will be taken over by Haitian-born, Montreal-based beat maker Kaytranada. Kaytranada has built a huge fan base by releasing a steady stream of remixes and mixtapes featuring his funky, high-energy sound. His much anticipated debut album on XL Recordings is expected to be released sometime in 2016. He’ll follow fellow Canadian artist Tre Mission, the innovative MC whom The Fader says “stalks ground between grime, hip-hop, UK garage, reggae and dubstep yet never sounds anything less than right at home.” Mission’s fellow Red Bull Sound Select artist RUMTUM will get the party started with his breezy electro-funk stylings.
