Who is KeyBoy? #OfficialHype

Key Vincent McCarthy (born January 14, 1992), better known by his stage name KeyBoy, is an underground hip hop artist from Hutchinson, Kansas. In 2012, he started his movement Meaningful Music. KeyBoy’s first single Welcome to the Middle was released in 2015, followed by his single Letter to my Big Homie. He was first recognized for his tribute song to his older brother Barton Daniel McCarthy who passed away September 11, 2010. He then released Gold and Blue, the remix to Wiz Khalifa’s Black and Yellow to show support for his hometown high school football team that won 6 consecutive state titles. He also made a song dedicated to the New York Giants in 2007 that recorded over 40,000 hits on YouTube. His YouTube channel today has over 400,000 total views. Late 2015 KeyBoy signed a record deal with DDP Music Group and is currently working on his album and will also be re-releasing Welcome to the Middle produced by Don Destin both expected in 2016. He was recently shared on the I Discover Stars and Music Crowns Facebook pages.

He was featured onThisIs50.com, DownSouthHipHop.com, South East Hip Hop Magazine, and Waka Flocka’sSupastars Magazine. Since 2013 he has shared the stage with artists such as Hopsin, SwizZz, Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko, Lil Flip, Paul Wall, Twista, J-Dash, T-Cash, Dorrough, Z-RO, J-Holiday, King Lil G, Jarren Benton, Snow Tha Product, Rittz, Devin The Dude, Afro Man, Ces Cru, Haystak, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Machine Gun Kelly, Kevin Gates, and Hi-Rez.

As you see your self, who is KeyBoy?

A big fish in a small pond. With what people like to call a “natural gifted talent”. KeyBoy is a 23 year old hip hop artist from Hutchinson, KS who creates meaningful music!

Tell us about your current project?

I am working on re-releasing my single Welcome to the Middle with my producer Don Desin with DDP Music Group. This will also be a remixed version!

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?

I will never give up. Tomorrow isnt promised and anything can happen. I know in my heart this industry is for me because I feel it everyday! I will say that the positive vibes will always beat out the negatives!

What makes you the next great happening?

I get to work with Platinum, Gold and Multi-Grammy Nominated Producer Don Destin. That’s pretty big I think. Haha! The world has yet to hear me and when they do.. I hope whatever happens is great lol!

Are your currently signed to a label or have any situation in the making?

I just recently signed to DDP Music Group.

Who and what are your influences?

Anybody who believes influences me! I look up to a lot of artist in all genres!
Kevin Gates, Hopsin, Fetty Wap, MGK, Ice Cube, August Alsina… the list goes on!

What should people expect from your upcoming 2016 projects?

My first album! Shows… and possibly mixtapes!

Is there anything you would like our readers to know?

I am 23 years sober.

Summer of ‘15 in New Jersey… speed limit is 40 and everyone is going 85 and up… I just don’t get it. haha.
