Who is Barry Pener?

I’m the founder of GRNDHOUSE Denim and have literally a lifetime of experience when it comes to the urban fashion industry following in the footsteps of my father who was selling urban since 1955. Before GRINDHOUSE I was a retailer with 35 stores but sold them before deciding to jump back into that game with GRINDHOUSE Denim.

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?

Growing up around the industry made me realize from an early age that this was the industry for me.

What makes you stand out in the Fashion Industry?

My 55 year history, my understanding of the customer, my fashion sense and my eye for color.

What trends do you see being huge this Spring/Summer 2016 Season?

For Summer / Spring 2016…jean jackets, capris and denim will continue to be huge.

What should people expect from your upcoming 2016 lines?

Denim and more denim, but mostly denim that people can afford. There is no reason to pay $200 for a pair of jeans when you can get a great pair for a fraction of the cost.

Be yourself but be a leader not a follower; have an opinion and stick to it!

Once I was working on a commercial with a friend. And, we got to hang on the inside of the O in the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles…. I said to myself, “Where they do that at?”
