Rhyme Report: A Review of Buck Roger$ “Live Live 365”

Blakk Money Entertainments own Buck Rogers has released his long awaited Live Live 365 project. A dope collective of a plethora of sounds, the project captures the sound of his hometown while delivering music that can compete with what is preferred in Nightlife. On the albums first track, All O’s (Produced by AZ Beats) the charismatic Marcy, Brooklyn MC takes listeners back in time as an introduction to the foundation of who he is as an artist today. Showcasing his ambition as he spits in a witty rhyme pattern, he sets the tone for the project by shedding insight into the youngster that has grown up to become the man that is Buck Rogers. Never one to lack confidence, we are reminded of his win streak via lines like: Keep it 100 you below 0 / My Lost column got all O’s.

Another standout track on the project is No Wins (Produced by Prod by Redd Visions.) Seemingly taking direct aim at his competitors, Buck Roger$ reminds that there is no chance at surpassing either his talent or work ethic. From the outset the song comes on with “You Aint Getting No Wins!” How’s that for being candid? You have to respect that approach from one of the more outspoken MCs on the indie scene who can often times be found on social media sparking conversation and sharing his inner most thoughts; even if there is the potential to offend. Live and learn, as Buck Rogers advises he goes on to joke of his leaving the trap house and swiping a shooter. Do not take this literal as it is a cool play on words marking one of the more common, even if unfortunate, elements of today’s reality. FYI: Anyone can get touched, and anything swiped.

When it comes to remaining grounded and connecting with the people, Buck Rogers is well versed in the presentation of content that is easily relate-able and directly speaks for the struggle that takes place in the ghetto. Felt like you needed a spokesperson ? Buck Rogers is your guy. In addition, Buck Rogers makes clever references to iconic sports teams from the L.A. area- The Lakers and The Raiders, serving two purposes; one: connect with listeners from the other coast (smart move.) and two: a possible foreshadow of what the future holds for his BlakkMoney Entertainment teammates as they fight to etch their name into the conversation of great franchises.

Love and Pain in my opinion are the two most common things in life, with having doubters as running a close second. In today’s times when everyone pleads for the understanding that they are being hated on, I need you to know this is not what Buck Rogers is talking about. Me Either is a treatise on being underestimated and un-supported until its too late. #NoBandWagonRiding allowed. Joining labelmate, Spa77ow on this up-tempo track, Buck Rogers takes shots (diplomatically) at all those who have missed the bus letting their own perspective get in the way. Shame on them. A shoe-in for club play the song offers exactly what you want to hear after your second bottle of Henny on a 2 for $300 night anywhere in America. Cheers!

With all the partying and real issues being spoken about, Buck Rogers puts the icing on the cake with Just Like You (Produced by Top Dawg Tha Beast) . The most introspective song on the project, he hits home letting us know that it has not been all glitter on his come up. The Struggle that he speaks of, was his own.I’m just like you, when you look in the mirror see me and you/ If the sneaker fits wear it homey, sport that shoe.

Can’t get no realer than that. Hip Hop speaks for the people, from all walks of life. At its best, it gives us a way of feeling connected matters of commonality. Just Like You was created in that likeness, and hits a homerun. Shout out to Buck Rogers, for the wait; salute on the execution. You got one playa.
