A Little Boston in Austin: Dropkick Murphys at Stubb’s

After a very hot and humid twenty years in Austin, St. Patrick’s Day came early for the Yankee in me when the Dropkick Murphys played the Stubb’s Amphitheater on February 27th in celebration of the band’s 20th Year Anniversary.

The Celtic punk band from Quincy, Massachusetts was a staple in the Boston music scene since the late 90’s and even now is still one of the most prominent punk acts, continually selling out venues in the tour and festival circuits.

With a solid, undying fan following, the Dropkick Murphys have come to represent the hard-working everyman which most likely is the root of their mass appeal. Later. the band later became a voice for a number of political causes and most recently became involved in raising over $100,00 for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Through the years, the band’s fan base has remained solid and loyal and the band itself has stayed true to their local roots, clearly proven in their raw and honest performances and genuine love for the music and their audience.

With Darkbuster and Tiger Army opening the Austin show, the Dropkick Murphys will continue their international 20th Year Anniversary Tour through the summer promoting their new CD, ‘Signed and Sealed In Blood’.
