United States Conference of Mayors President issues statement on Kalamazoo, MI shootings

United States Conference of Mayors President Baltimore (MD) Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake today issued the following statement regarding the shooting in Kalamazoo, Michigan:

“Once again, mayors across the nation are struggling to find words to express what we are feeling in the wake of yet another senseless shooting rampage in yet another of our nation’s cities.

“Six innocent residents of Kalamazoo are dead today and two more lie wounded following Saturday’s shootings, and the details that are emerging from the city’s investigation portray an incident that is more and more troubling.

“We are reaching out today with a message to the families and the friends of all of the victims, and to the whole Kalamazoo community:  Your loss, your pain, is shared by all of us who care about, and care for, the residents of our cities.  Our pledge to you is that we will continue our fight to keep guns out of the hands of the wrong people in every city in America.”
