Sego Debut Stream of New Album With Accompanying Video Loops from Kidmograph!

Today via a premiere with The Music Ninja , Sego, the Los Angeles-by-way-of-Provo duo of Spencer Peterson and Thomas Carroll, released a stream of their dynamic new record Once Was Lost Now Just Hanging Around. Due out on Dine Alone Records this Friday, Once Was Lost Now Just Hanging Around expands on the percolating beats, persistently spastic grooves and danceable jittery guitars and synths that caused their debut EPs Wicket Youth and Long Long Way From The Fringe to make waves across their native Los Angeles and the Internet.

PREORDER: Once Was Lost Now Just Hanging Around (iTunes)

Rather than premiering the record with the same old Soundcloud song-and-dance, the band collaborated with renowned motion designer Gustavo Torres (a.k.a Kidmograph) to create custom video loops for each track on the album. Kidmograph, who has found a cult following among the Tumblr art community and was recently the focus of a Creator’s Project feature for Vice, perfectly captured Sego’s blend of 90’s nostalgia, innovative arrangements and quirky layering for the series which you can check out in the album’s YouTube stream. The record will be available via all your favorite streaming services Friday, and in the meantime you can preorder it on iTunes.

Where I Belong

If you are unfamiliar with Sego, they are best described as rhythm distilled and pure. Their aforementioned EPs Wicket Youth and Long Long Way From The Fringe painted the picture of a band turned inside out, the rhythm section taking the lead and the guitars and keyboards filling in space with short, sharp riffs. Their music is the sound of postmillennial city life created by two millennials from rural Utah living in Los Angeles. While Once Was Lost Now Just Hanging Around lives very much outside-the-box, it is also a more focused and more mature record than its predecessor. As we will get to witness on their upcoming US tour (dates below), this new sound has only amplified the wattage of the band’s already explosive live show. Make sure to catch the band when they’re in your town or miss one of the best parties you will come across in 2016.
