Writer and director Bryan James talks Digital Evolution!

Bryan James is an actor, writer and director of award winning web series Youthful Daze which premiered season 5 in February. James’ successful docudrama web series, often pairs him up with some of the top young TV personalities right now like Keegan Allen of Pretty Little Liars,” Chrishell Stause of the soap opera, Days of Our Lives, Everyone Loves Raymond co-star Madeline Sweetin and reality star Scott Disick.

Passionately created by Bryan to feel like 90’s teen dramas CRUEL INTENTIONS and “Beverly Hills 90210,” it’s the story of Drew Castle (Bryan James) living in the Los Angeles suburbs of Calabasas and attending a private high school called Westfield Prep while dealing with hidden issues with schizophrenia.

Inspired to act early on in school, Bryan landed his first role on Discovery Health Channel’s Mystery ER and decided to start writing and producing his own scripts, leading him to create Youthful Daze based off of his favorite childhood television show Beverly Hills 90210.

An Angeleno at heart, Bryan enjoys everything the culture of the city has to offer from hiking the canyons to surfing the beaches and cheering on the LA Dodgers. He supports the arts and attends cinema, theatre and stand-up comedy featuring his friends and mentors, while always searching for his next big role or script idea.

Being an active part of the digital revolution by way of his web series and dedication to the Periscope platform, we asked Bryan about some of the tools that impact his daily life:

Technology “must haves” for your professional and personal lives

I must have my iPhone. I do everything on it. I must have my Mophie so my iPhone never dies. When I die just bury my iPhone with me in my hand.

How has digital technology affected your productivity, creativity and even lifestyle?

It has made everything more accessible. It gives you more control over your life and what you have in it. Creatively it’s given me an outlet to produce and star on a web series and in terms of lifestyle it just feels like everyone communicates with digital technology. We all just stare at each other now without them.

Any particular favorite gadgets?

I think that whatever I say will be outdated in a year. Because we keep advancing so much! Which is amazing. So it’s hard to actually select one thing.
