Austin Heats Up With Spring Festival Season In Full Swing

Spring festival season is in full swing in Austin, Texas, kicking off with last weekend’s Maverick Music Festival in San Antonio, Texas featuring headlining acts Public Enemy and The Flaming Lips, and Euphoria Music Festival at Austin’s favorite outdoor festival escape, Carson Creek Ranch. Here’s what’s going on this weekend:

Old Settler’s Festival-Dripping Springs, Texas

Just outside the city of Austin is the quiet little town of Driftwood, Texas. Normally quiet and laid back, it becomes a little more lively in April for the Old Settler’s Music Festival, an annual four-day event of Americana music, arts and crafts, food and drink vendors, and families set at the Salt Lick Pavillion and right next door to Camp Ben McCulloch. Now in its 29th year, the festival began in 1987 at the Old Settler’s Park in then-small town of Round Rock, Texas. Eventually moving to Driftwood, the festival has grown into a family friendly event focused on good music, good food, workshops, and camping, and can brag on some of the amazing talent that have graced the stages over the years, including Robert Earl Keen, Alison Krauss, JD McPherson, and The Avett Brothers. The festival begins on Thursday, April 14th and runs through the weekend. In case you missed it last year, here’s a recap:
