While it is a long-range rollout, the U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew announced that Harriett “Moses” Tubman, will replace Andrew Jackson, one of Americas most unpopular names right now, on the 20 dollar bill. Jackson, was not only a slave owner, his record of forcible relocation of Native Americans has brought him once again under fire as part of the money change debate. Remarks on the selection of Tubman for the $20 bill have come from the likes of former presidential hopeful Ben Carson and Donald Trump that perhaps she should be assigned to the relatively unknown $2 bill.

Tubman will be on the most popular and active print currency in the country. ATMS dispense that denomination pretty much exclusively and some retail locations wont accept bills larger than that.

Also in the plans for U.S. money redesign, are the $5 and $10 bills which will include women and civil rights heroes. Dr. King will find his place on the rear of the $5 according to reports.

Names like Nat Turner and Malcolm X will not likely make it onto U.S. Currency and even the mention of it has brought earned the ire of a section of the population who are forgetting that, we’ve been honoring murderers and criminals in American history for quite some time.
