Honest Indie Rock lives with Chaplin The Band

Chaplin The Band caught my ear with their straight up honest rock offerings and I feel they are going to make a difference in the fabric of music overall…

From the outside looking in, who is Chaplin The Band?

Four guys that got together to make music. That love the music they make, and have a lot of fun in the process… Who also find unique ways to have a good time!

What brought you to the entertainment industry, music specifically?

We all grew up playing music in different environments and fell in love with it from a young age. We knew that it was something we had to do. As we got more involved in the music industry we realized how difficult it can be and it challenged us to do everything we can to succeed in it.

What do you want people get from your music?

Our music is centered around actual experiences we’ve all gone through. Because of that, we feel it’s something that all demographics can relate to in different aspects.

Tell us about your current project.

We recently just finished recording our first EP, titled “Just Kids”, which will be released early 2016. We recorded with John Palmieri at Sony in Nashville, TN. We were fortunate to work with a producer that gelled so well with the band, and could lead us while allowing us to keep our true sound. The EP consists of 5 songs that go from relationship struggles to finding out who you are, and your place in the world. Overall the record has a fun, free spirited, vibe that makes you forget what’s going on and have a good time.

After the break up for college, was it difficult to get back into the “groove”?

Not at all! It was easy to get back into the “groove” of things. What was challenging was finding 4 individuals that got along and also had the same amount of dedication to the music and to the band. The breakup actually is what brought us together in the first place. It gave us a much needed wake up call which made us really get serious about music as a career.

Louisiana isn’t known as a hot bed for pop / punk music, what has your journey been like to grow as a brand?

It was definitely a struggle due to us being the only pop punk band in our area, we played some shows with a variety of different genres while in Louisiana (metal, indie, etc.), but ended up making our way to Nashville to truly establish our brand. The journey has been a little piece of hell, but we also had a lot of great times and made a lot of memories! The difficult part of growing our brand overall has been discovering who we are as individual musicians and band as a whole. Coming together and discovering who we were as individuals, is what ultimately created our brand.

For new listeners, what song of yours would you pick as an introduction to you?

We would have to say “Broke Her Heart” which will be coming out on our new EP. It’s got a fun feel, and it’s definitely a “get up and jump around” kind of song, which describes us perfectly.

Tell us a bit about your work and passions OUTSIDE of music…

We do this thing called “CEHN” (Chaplin’s Epic Hangout Night), which has an open invitation that we advertise on our band page. It’s basically a huge party, based around the most random, epic activities that we can think of (ie, baby food eating contest, paint balloon fight, smashing kitchen appliances with a baseball bat, etc.). We also like to play video games when we have spare time to just chill.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” aka WTF?! moment…

Let us set the scene. There was a cow, at midnight, we brought to a Kroger parking lot… Actually multiple cows…
