Microsoft showcases new music creation platform with Mau5trap artist ATTLAS

In another showcase of Digital Evolution, yesterday marked the official release of “Aspen,”  the new track from Canadian producer and mau5trap artist ATTLAS that was created using Microsoft’s Surface and recorded while on the road as part of the mau5hax but tour, which featured handpicked artists by electronic artist and label-founder deadmau5. To celebrate the first mau5hax bu5 tour release, the label hosted a private listening party and panel session at The Microsoft Lounge in Venice, Los Angeles, CA.

The invite-only event included an intimate panel discussion moderated by Thavius Beck, where ATTLAS gave further insights on the technology behind the music production process. The private party also offered an exclusive opportunity for guests to listen to special DJ sets and the new track before release date. Ultimately, the special event provided attendees with an unforgettable experience and a behind-the-scenes look into how deadmau5 and the mau5trap artists are pushing music production forward using Microsoft technology.

It’s the merging of studio and performance that is the most exciting frontier … When you get things like Surface where you can merge these two worlds of studio and performance and turn them into this new hybrid — the benefit is for the performer, the benefit is for the listener, and it only helps music.”
