Breaking exceptional new talent is always an exciting time and recently, mega-producer Harmony Samuels (Ariana Grande, Ne-Yo, Destiny’s Child, Brandy, Fantasia), BOE, SAMURAI and BMI hosted a pre-release music showcase celebrating the launch of their new artist MAJOR, at World Arts in Los Angeles.
Hosted by Niecy Nash (“The Soul Man”), the musical event was attended by singer Andra Day, singer Kevin McCall, actress Wendy Raquel Robinson (BET “The Game”), stylist GooGoo Atkins (WE tv “Mary Mary”), actress Elise Neal (“The Hughleys”), actress Kellee Stewart (“The Soul Man”), singer Dondria (“So So Def Records”), actor Chadwick Boseman (“42”) singer Adrian Anderson (“Trin-i-tee 5:7”), Shamicka Lawrence (VH1 “Hollywood Exes”) media mogul Mahir Fadle (“TheJasmineBrand.com”), writer Billy Johnson, singer Antonio Ramsey, singer Uri and more! Who is Major?
MAJOR, is the fresh new face and voice of soul-pop music, but he’s no stranger to the music industry having written for Ariana Grande, Nathan Sykes and EPIC Records’ “Think Like A Man Too” original motion picture soundtrack.
Major’s brings back ghosts of major crooners like Sammy Davis, Joe Sample, Young Eddie Levert and on and on and on…In other words, there is nothing this guy can’t do with his voice. He effortlessly glides through vocal changes and intervals, with a mastery of timber and intonation I’d liken to the impact of Adele in presentation.
R&B has been under the gun for quite some time with many detractors saying it’s dead and not returning. It’s evident, nobody told Major and his sampling of music available on his official SoundCloud page is an brief peek at what he’s got in store. Refreshing is my only thought and from what I’ve heard thus far, he’s going to get a lot of 5 star ratings…starting with mine! He’s got all the tools.
Here’s a quick taste of what’s in store from this young lion! We’ve got an exciting musical future thanks to Major.
