Trio Underhill Rose Follow Up Uk Tour With Summer Stateside Dates, New Live Album

The soaring harmonies, charming personalities, and infectious songwriting of all-female “heartfelt country soul” trio Underhill Rose have already cemented roots in domestic Americana circles. Now, the women have also charmed fans across the pond with their brand of progressive roots music, having just wrapped up their first-ever tour of the UK and Ireland.
The trek included live performances on BBC Radio as well as a variety of venues through the region. Underhill Rose is highly praised in the UK and Ireland, having received a slate of glowing praise for its latest album in regional press (including mentions in Maverick Magazine, Country Music Report, Country Music and Dance, and others). This follows the group’s already buzzing success Stateside, where they’ve garnered such comments as “One of the most promising rootsy women artists on the Americana scene” (No Depression).

Underhill Rose will commence a busy schedule with July dates in Colorado and Montana, including a much-anticipated appearance at the Red Ants Pants festival in White Sulphur Springs. They also plan to record a live album in their home state of North Carolina in September.

The band, composed of guitarist Molly Rose, bassist Salley Williamson, and Eleanor Underhill on banjo, has made a solid and uncompromising impact in what is a largely male-populated music front. Priding itself on producing a unique sound combining beauty with just a touch of darkness, the group formed in 2009 while Underhill and Rose were attending North Carolina’s Warren Wilson College.

After adding Williamson to the mix two years later, Underhill Rose launched two successful crowd-funding campaigns between 2012 and 2014, raising more than $50,000 to fund the independent release of their sophomore and third (most recent) albums.

Their second release, Something Real, peaked at number 18 on the AMA Chart, was named an AMA Top 100 Album of the Year, and claimed a spot in the top 25 of the EuroAmericana Chart, Freeform Americana Radio, and The Alternate Root “Roots 66” charts. Follow-up The Great Tomorrow, released in 2015, reached the Top 30 of the AMA Airplay Chart once again, and took hold at No. 1 on The Roots Music Report’s Progressive Bluegrass Album Chart for over nine weeks.
