He was telling the truth: Maino didn’t shoot Troy Ave

During a T.I. Concert at Irving Plaza, a violent shooting took place injuring three and killing one. Of the three injured, Brooklyn, NY rapper, Troy Ave was “grazed by a bullet” according to his management. The initial scavenger hunt by NYPD to find the assailant pointed fingers at Maino, another rapper from Brooklyn, NY.  Everyone believed  Maino was responsible for the Troy Ave shooting, however that information was false.

Shortly after the incident, an official statement was released from Maino through his publicist and public relations representation, Carnegie PR. The statement was as follows:

“First and foremost my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ronald McPhatter who was tragically killed last night. Despite having to cope with more senseless gun violence, I woke up to the usual FALSE and ridiculous lies being circulated by irresponsible members of the media. What transpired was absolutely NOT the result of myself or anyone in my camp, entourage, traveling party or organization. We entered the venue respectfully as always and exited in shock like all of the others in attendance.  For the past 5 years Troy Ave, his team and I have maintained a great working relationship. Not only have we performed and worked on music together, but had many personal conversations about life and our efforts as musicians. Despite media reports, there is NO “ongoing beefs” or “entourage issues” between Troy and I. It always has been and always will be good relations between myself and my team and Troy Ave, Hovain, Young Lito and the BSB family. Once again I send my sincerest condolences to the the family of Ronald McPhatter and wish a speedy recovery to Troy Ave and all those injured last night at Irving Plaza.”

While Manio’s words were sincere, man y were still in disbelief until he was cleared by NYPD of any and all involvement in the shooting. It wasn’t until the Daily News published an article declaring Maino’s innocence that people believed in his innocence. All along, the rapper’s initial statement was true and he had no intentions to hid or cover anything up.  Its good to know that Maino’s innocence is finally recognized and acknowledged by the public.
