New music: Philthy Rich ft. Birdman – “Buss Down” (Remix) / “Tryna Keep Up” ft. Shy Glizzy

Philthy Rich (@philthyrichFOD) drops a single from upcoming “Hood Life 4″ AND an 808 Mafia-produced remix of  “Buss Down.”

Critical Praise:

“With a decade-long career, ties to his region’s old guard, and a clever affection for delivery surrounded by repetitive earworm hooks, Philthy’s grown from a Mac Dre-affiliate into a venerable heavyweight of the Yay Area revival sound.”Mass Appeal

“A veteran in the Bay Area rap scene, Philthy Rich built a reputation as the Bay Area’s Gucci Mane because of his drug-fueled, yet down-to-earth, rhymes, his prolific output, and his relationships with the best street rappers and producers.”HipHopDX

“The Oakland native has been working hard lately and been dropping some fire music.”XXL

Revisiting a highlight from his album, Rich N*ggas Back in $tyle, Philthy Rich bosses up with Birdmanfor the Buss Down (Remix),” premiered by HotNewHipHop. Over a bombastic beat by 808 Mafia, the two kingpins flex their wealth, bragging about cars, jewels, watches, designer clothes, and other things you can’t afford. Originally featuring a guest spot from Young Scooter, the original version of “Buss Down” released last fall and has since racked up nearly three million views on WorldStarHipHop, 314,000+ views on YouTube, and 90,700 views on Soundcloud.

Proving he’s one of the most prolific rappers of his generation, Philthy drops “Tryna Keep Up,” featuring Shy Glizzy. Zaytoven supplies the beat and does what he does best, giving Philthy and Glizzy a slow-riding, bass-knocking, trap track to trade verses over, bragging about how far ahead of their competition they are. “Tryna Keep Up” is the lead single from Philthy’s upcoming mixtape, Hood Life 4. Having released two songs from two different projects in one day, it’s hard to argue when Philthy says, “you’ll go broke tryna keep up with me.”

Philthy Rich, a slick-talking emcee with a tireless work ethic, is currently preparing for the release of Funk Season 4, his next solo project. Last week, Philthy teamed with Maybach Music Group‘s Yowda to release American Greed, a full-length project with appearances from Jim Jones, J Stalin, and more. In July, XXL premiered, “59 To 79” a piano-laden trap banger featuring G Herbo. “59 to 79” followed the Zaytoven-produced cut “Numbers” and the remix to “Broke Boy,” which features a long guest list of buzzing artists. Earlier, Complex premiered “Barely Know My Name” which features Lil B, MistahF.A.B., Mozzy and Celly Ru. With guest spots from Skeme, Shy Glizzy, Sauce Walka, Soulja Boy and more, and production by the likes of Zaytoven and Shawty Fresh, Philthy’s next big solo album Hood Rich 4 releases this fall.

Born and raised in East Oakland’s notorious Seminary neighborhood, Philthy Rich is a seasoned veteran in the Bay Area Hip-Hop scene, called “The Bay Area’s Gucci Mane” by HipHopDX, for his raw and honest lyricism, his great ear for new talent, untiring work ethic and wide network of collaborators. . In the lead up to January’s Real N*ggas Back in $tyle, the first in a series of three albums with the same title, Philthy Rich shared a series of singles starting withthe IAMSU-assisted money-making anthem “Make A Living,” which gained more than one million Soundcloud streams. Philthy Rich’s latest solo project, SemCity MoneyMan 4, available for streaming on Soundcloud and for purchase on iTunes. Hood Rich 4 hits stores later this summer.
