Who is Apollo Night LA ‘Artist of the Week’ Trixx?
I just got introduced to Trixx (@DaManWit2Xs) and his music on the latest episode of Apollo Night LA (@apollonightla). What I dig about him is his use of that strong yet laid back style made famous during the #Blacksploitation era. No not the corny Shaft horns but thing Issacc Hayes tracks or Curtis Mayfield tracks but with a flow that meshes perfectly with the music style. Born in Honolulu, HI but currently hailing from Virginia Beach, Trixx has had the rap jones since he was a kid. His flow shows his dedication to the culture.
From the outside looking in, who is Trixx?
Trixx aka DaManWit2Xs is a laid back, chill type of person. Lover of music & lover of women.
What brought you to the entertainment industry, music specifically?
I’ve wanted to be a rapper since about 7 years old. Missy Elliot helped influence my passion for hip hop/rap. Started off young and never stopped.
Tell us about your current project and your ApolloNightLA “Artist of the Week” winning single “Heavenly.”
My current project is an album titled, “Lit”. It will be available for digital download/streaming via outlets such as iTunes, GooglePlay, Tidal, Spotify, Amazon, etc. on August 19th. The winning song “Heavenly” is actually the intro track to my mixtape “PMG2 (Preservin My Greatness)” which is available on DatPiff & SoundCloud.
For new listeners, what song of yours would you pick as an introduction to you?
I would have to say my new album “Lit” that dropped today August 19th on iTunes, GooglePlay, Apple Music, etc.. That is the best way for me to introduce myself.
Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…
I did a radio interview and a guest who was also there heard a song that I just debuted that day. She said her kids know all the words then urged that we take a pic together. She obviously had mistaken it for another song; I didn’t want to be rude so I just went with the flow. She was so happy. LOL
