#ArtistToWatch: The Silent Celeb Releases new EP !
Karen Blanco A.K.A The Silent Celeb, originally from The Bronx, is a rising R&B singer who is no stranger to the stage. She performed on the No Boys Allowed Tour and also the Deans List Tour. The singer recently dropped a 6-track EP titled “The Silent Celebrity Project.” The project includes features from Singer Cocoa Sarai, Rapper Zeyi, and Poet Da Ruddest Jones.
This project was long anticipated, and brings the same vibe that artists like India Arie, and Lauryn Hill offered. Not only does this EP give people a nostalgic feeling of 90s R&B, but it also has a taste of neo-soul, pop, and alternative rock.
“Good Music,” one of the singles from the EP describes the way The Silent Celeb feels she is perceived as an artist in this industry.
“They say my voice got flare, something people need to hear/ but with this look I won’t get nowhere.” sings Blanco, early on in the cut
The song describes her love for music despite what people think of her. Blanco’s image is complicated by her reputation as a member of the LGBT community.
“For those who won’t support my sh*t, cause I don’t wear lipstick, feel free to suck my–
Just let me make good music, that’s all I want to do” sings Blanco, in another verse from “The Silent Celebrity Project”
The EP is the definition of feel good music and right now has over 5K plays on Soundcloud.
