Five Questions with Dread Marley

Dread Marley’s (T: @Iamdreadmarley) spirit has already cast his influences beyond the realm of his authentic image, having toiled with musical talents such as Kid Ink, YG, Bow Wow, Lil Twist, Lil Chuckee (Young Money), Teairra Mari (Love and Hip Hop), DJ Spin, Fatman Scoop, Lola Monroe, Lil Jon, and DJ Nyce.

It’s no surprise the artist formerly known as “Elite Motivated” summoned the spirit of “Dread Marley.” Dread’s transcending lyrics and intoxicating beats have filled the airwaves of New York and New Jersey, and invaded the internet radio airways of “Shade 45” (Eminem’s Uncut Hip Hop Show on SiriusXM Radio) as well as radio broadcast stations like “Hot 97” while simultaneously grabbing the attention of radio personalities like DJ Wallah, DJ Reef, and DJ Kay Slay- CEO of “Straight Stuntin Magazine”.

His voluminous sound has been heard in clubs throughout the tri-state area while his true innovation is taking the internet by storm with newly released EP “A Day For You” (which can be downloaded on iTunes, Google Play, and Spotify). Having released a new video this past February (under his previous name) it has since been viewed over 80,000 times.

Tell us about your current project and your Scary Movie Trailer! You are celebrating a name change what’s behind the choice?

I went to go get my girl a gift and a doll just took over. You’ll find out when the movie drops.

Do you feel your current project is the best introduction to you as an artist?

Without a doubt. I feel like what I bring to the table and what I bring to the industry will change the game. I feel like this is a great introduction for me as an artist because not only that I was forced to become better musically, I decided to start creating something more interesting and different by stepping outside of my usual realm.

In a lot of your pics, you stay with head bowed…is there a story behind that?

I put my head down because to me, it’s a sign of respect. The reason why I put my head down and put the peace sign up is because I give you respect, peace, and love.

The Hype Magazine wants to know: What’s been your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?! Or “WTF?!” moment thus far in your career?

A club brought me out to perform, and as I’m performing, getting love and interacting with the crowd, a waiter for the spot just walks in the middle of my performance and started to clean tables. I was like what the heck is going on?! But me, my crew and the crowd that came out had a good time.
