The MAKO Girls (T: @MAKOGirls) are an Atlanta based Pop/R&B group that brings different styles to create one epic sound. Kena (17), Mimi (15), and A-Ni (13) are sisters that took their love for singing, dancing, entertaining to a professional level. As they put it, “We are everyday girls that want to show the world in order to succeed you have to believe in yourself and never give up”.

With West Indian background, MAKO Girls have an authentic love for music that is meant to move you. This H.I.T. (Hardworking, Intelligent, Talented) trio has the passion and drive that will help them achieve their goal of world tours and packed arenas. XOXO MAKO Girls!

Tell us about your current project and or single!

We recently released our debut EP entitled, The Mako Girls Experience. The Mako Girls Experience is filled with 6 hot tracks (ATL, Mako Thing, Turning up The Crowd (T.U.T.C.), Slay, Game Time, and Slay ( Remix ) for all to enjoy! We worked on this project for a little over a year and are so excited with all of the positive feedback we are receiving from pros in the music industry. This EP is a true representation of who we are at this moment in our lives and it is the perfect combination of Pop/ Hip- Hop/ and R&B. But you know we couldn’t just stop there! We just released our second visual from our EP for the song “ATL”. We had to let the world know who we are and where we’re from. “We’re from A-Town and we love it!” Also, we just recorded the first single for our upcoming album called “Worldwide”. So you have to stay tuned for more updates on that project!

Do you feel your current project is the best introduction to you as an artist?

Yes! We believe that our current project is the best introduction for us because the music we make is something you can listen to for a long time. And it’s a direct reflection of the type of artists we are. We’re in this music entertainment industry for longevity. Our goal is for people to still be talking about our music for many years to come. Our music also explains who we are as well as what we are striving for. For example, our song “Slay” is our new “girls anthem”. We are letting every girl know that we “refuse to be basic” and how we are confident to be who we are! Even with the new single “Worldwide” from our upcoming album, it talks about how we travel and perform in different cities and countries around the world. It’s all about the growth and the bigger our dreams are as artists the bigger our reality will be!

What is the music landscape in your neck of the woods?

In the ATL, trap music dominates the radio air waves. Turnt dance challenges flood social media. And, pop music is another genre that is catchy to preteens and teens. We just can’t get enough of it!

123What’s on your horizon for 2017?

Well of course we will be hosting the Mako Girls 3rd Annual Carnival Glow Party in April 2017. Our official Mako Girls apparel line will definitely be moving forward as well as more promotions for our teen cosmetics line, The Mako Girls Glitterbomb Lipstick Collection and the Mako Girls Lip Gloss Collection with Kissable Lips Cosmetics. (Remember to shop Mako Girls and use the key word KISS MAKO to get your lipsticks and lip glosses from our line) Another thing our fans should expect is a video for our song “Game Time”. You already know we stay working, so you can expect a lot of live performance shows throughout the US added to the calendar. Be sure to keep track of our movement and stay updated by checking our website at www.makogirls.com .

The Hype Magazine wants to know: What’s been your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?! Or “WTF?!” moment thus far in your career?

Our “what the” moment was at a recent event, a woman came up on the stage, got the mic, started singing and dancing in front of the crowd; and she wasn’t even a part of the show. She was just a random person from the crowd. Of course when the organizers realized she wasn’t suppose to be there they escorted her off the stage and had security stand by very closely after that.
