Kehlani Adds Second Chicago Date on Debut Album World Tour 6/7

Grammy nominated songstress KEHLANI is thrilled to announce a second Chicago stop in celebration of her debut album SWEETSEXYSAVAGE and associated world tour! Kehlani began her singing career as the lead vocalist for the group Poplyfe, which finished fourth in the sixth season of America’s Got Talent in 2011. During their closing performance, judge Piers Morgan even told her, “You’ve got real talent, but I don’t think you need the group.”

She was brought to Los Angeles and given studio time by host of the show Nick Cannon, leading to the creation of her debut mixtape, Cloud 19, which was placed at No. 28 on Complex’s “50 Best Albums of 2014” and recognized by Pitchfork. After touring with rapper G-Eazy in 2015, Kehlani released her second mixtape, You Should Be Here. It was quickly described by Billboard as the “year’s first great R&B album,” debuting on the site’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at the No. 5 position. Featuring guest contributions from the likes of BJ the Chicago Kid and Chance the Rapper, the mixtape was lauded by such publications as Rolling Stone and Complex.

Kehlani was nominated for a 2016 Grammy award for Best Urban Contemporary Album, landing her a worthy spot among some of the most prolific singers and writers of the era.

Now, as her headlining world tour grows nearer, the hype surrounding the release of Kehlani’s debut album expands by the day. Three of its singles, “CRZY,” “Distraction” and “Advice,” were unveiled to her base of listeners in anticipation of the complete release, coming as a comprehensive taste of the full work to follow. “Distraction” was accompanied by an official music video, displaying Kehlani in her element as she sings in her signature pop/R&B hybrid style.

SWEETSEXYSAVAGE was released in full on January 27: a whopping 18-track collection of tracks both fiery and intimate in arrangement. Fans and newcomers alike are welcomed to download their copy of the complete work via iTunes now.
